Speaking of #A1, he's gained weight. He used to be tall and thin. He doesn't look fat, but he's no longer noticeably thin, either. When I was 10, I reached 66lb / 30kg. I'd expect he's beyond that already.

They are bigger these days. #A1 will soon be ten. He's as tall as the light switches in recent photos. If those switches are at the same height as the ones in my home, he's about as tall as I was at age 16.

I've been talking with #sonTwo and #Daddy_A about getting a 1 year subscription to https://www.crunchlabs.com/ for #GS3 and #A1. For the soon-to-be 4 year old, I think we should get the kits and set them aside along with instructions and downloaded videos, so he will have them in 2027 even if the program is no longer in operation. For the soon-to-be 10 year old, I wish I had known about this when he was 8.

I got a new photo of #A1 and his doggie. Both parents say they don't like the dog much, but it really loves the kid and the kid loves it, so it stays.
In in the pic, blue haired kid and dog are on the couch; kid is watching TV. And kid has gained some weight. He used to wear "slim" and even they were too loose. Now he looks like he's in "regular".

> Mississippi State Men's Basketball took down the Jackson State Tigers, 69-59, on Wednesday night at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The Dawgs are now 10-0 on the season after having dispatched Minnesota this past Sunday, 69-51, in Minneapolis. The Dawgs have one remaining non-conference home game before SEC play starts
From their sports supporter e-mail (I once bought MSU t-shirts for #GS1 and #GS2 and #A1 when I was working in Starkville #MS).

I sent the link to #A1, but it is already past his bedtime, so I also sent it to #Daddy_A to watch with the nine year old.
-
I intended to call #A1 today around 16:00 his time, but I completely missed it.
-
#A1 sent me a thank you SMS just before 23:00 his time. It is a school night, and the nine year old should have been asleep already.
I sent a ♥️, but otherwise did not respond, as I did not want to get him in trouble. Still, I am glad that he's learning to thank people. It isn't something his parents emphasize, so it means even more.

Going to #videochat with #GS3 and #GS4 today and hopefully tomorrow as well. Tomorrow I will also attempt to videochat with #GD1 and #GD2, and will attempt to make up last weekend's missed chat with #A1, #A2, #A3.
(In case you're wondering, I'm not attempting to set up a chat this weekend with 24 year old #GS2 nor 26 year old #GS1. I will try to get in touch with GS1 for a chat some time in August, and try to have a voice call with GS2 later this year.)

Got https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097HL621T for #A1, #A2, #A3. So far, I'm hearing that they really like them and use them constantly.
#GS3 and #GS4 are a little younger, so probably too young to get much out of walkie talkies, but I found a pair with Star Wars / Baby Yoda markings ... they like that show, so I got them their own set.

The museum had a 3D/VR of a space shuttle flight, but since I was there alone, I wasn't willing to spend $14 to experience it. If I'd brought #GD2 or #A1, we would have done that.

Not all baby boomers grew up with toy train sets. Or at least not much of one. I think one brother had a small oval loop electric train that stopped working within 20-30 minutes of opening it. No trains for any of the rest of us.
On the other hand, we had toy cars. One brother had Hot Wheels. I had Matchbox. Another brother had Johnny Lightning. I cannot remember what the other brothers had.
We also had original Legos, before the special sets with single use pieces. Legos and shag carpets together are the enemy of shoeless feet.
A few years ago, I was able to purchase over 100 Hot Wheels cars and a couple of trach sets for #A1 and #A2. I still send about 10 cars per year.

I still have not played #Fortnite with #A1.

I predict that #Daddy_A and his family will be seeing stars soon.
I sent a telescope. Well, I sent a telescope for #A1 last year, but it was one of those kids' science kit tabletop telescopes. This year's telescope is an entry level stargazing scope from Celestron. It came with a cellphone mount, so they can watch the screen and take photos of what they see instead of sticking their eyes up to the scope and potentially knocking it down. Oh, and it comes with some sort of astronomy software package.
I don't know anything more about it than that.

#Daddy_A reports that he had a reaction to some medication a few days ago and wanted to go to the hospital, but couldn't because his wife was already hospitalized and there was no one to take care of the kids.
I asked #sonTwo to call him and find out what we can do to help, but apparently, he recovered without intervention. (I also mentioned that #sonOne is 2-3 hours away, which is about 3 hours closer than #sonTwo.)
Anyway, he's better now and is repurposing a #Raspberry_Pi 3 that I sent for #A1 into a project combined with an #Arduino UNO R3.

Got a full hour of #videochat with #GS3 and 45 minutes with #GS4 tonight. Their other grandparents will be visiting for the next couple of weeks, so we will take a break.
The younger one is thrilled with a book 📕 that has places to feel dinosaurs. Not that anyone knows what a dinosaur 🦕’s skin felt like. The older one is pushing buttons on a talking, singing electronic toy.
I told them (and #sonTwo) that the only career that will always have jobs is plumbing, but that I will try to prepare them as much as I can for the things I know.
I also mentioned that their cousin #A1 is getting a micro:Bit and a couple of projects for it.
-
I passed a Barnes and Noble store, so I went in and discovered that there is another “Cat Kid Comic Club” book. I bought copies for #A1 and #GS3 (none for #GD2 because she’s currently only reading “Naruto” books).

I looked through these, but they don't look very interesting, in my opinion. I got a micro:bit for #A1 (but sent it to Grandpa's house, so I can send it along with a book of projects and the materials needed for those projects in one shipment) and was looking to see what he'd find after he goes through the projects book.

Today's delivery. Hoping #A1 enjoys this. His siblings also, but they're currently 4 and 5. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/285665

Found out that #A1 is briefly visible in a YouTube video of his team's game. If I hadn't been told what time to look, I would have missed him. Texted to tell him I saw him and he responded. First time I've received a text from him. You know Grandpa was overjoyed.
Also: Good spelling and grammar, not text-speak, so I understood right away.
He had a brief appearance in the background of a music video about 2 years ago, because it was shot at a public place.
