> Mississippi State Men's Basketball took down the Jackson State Tigers, 69-59, on Wednesday night at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The Dawgs are now 10-0 on the season after having dispatched Minnesota this past Sunday, 69-51, in Minneapolis. The Dawgs have one remaining non-conference home game before SEC play starts
From their sports supporter e-mail (I once bought MSU t-shirts for #GS1 and #GS2 and #A1 when I was working in Starkville #MS).

Going to #videochat with #GS3 and #GS4 today and hopefully tomorrow as well. Tomorrow I will also attempt to videochat with #GD1 and #GD2, and will attempt to make up last weekend's missed chat with #A1, #A2, #A3.
(In case you're wondering, I'm not attempting to set up a chat this weekend with 24 year old #GS2 nor 26 year old #GS1. I will try to get in touch with GS1 for a chat some time in August, and try to have a voice call with GS2 later this year.)

#GS1 reports that he and #GS2 have received their mugs and watches. He said "that was awesome", but I don't know which item he was talking about.
-
#GS1 and #GS2 getting Casio "G Shock" watches and "I ❤️ NY" mugs.
I usually send each a $25 Steam code.

I decided to get I heart NY mugs for everyone. All three boys and their wives, my mom, the sister and #lazyNephew who live in the same house as I do, and #GS1 and #GS2. I walked into this gift shop and bought a whole mess of mugs. And now I think I still need a couple more.
I haven’t been doing it since Puerto Rico, but it is traditional that the grandkids all get t-shirts with the local university’s name and logo. I have not started looking for those yet.
It is also time to start thinking about replacing my backpack. I’ve only had it for a couple of months (I bought it in New Jersey #NJ)

I should clarify that the two oldest boys ( #GS1, age 25; #GS2, age 23 ) and the oldest girl ( #GD1, age 14 ) are the only ones old enough for vaccination until now.

FDA approves Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for emergency use in ages 5-11. https://nu.federati.net/url/283342 [www fda gov]
#sonOne is happy to be able to get #GD2 vaccinated.
I just thought about it, but I don't know whether her older siblings #GS1 and #GS2 are vaccinated. It may be that only one ( #GD1 ) out of 9 grandkids is currently vaccinated.
-
#GS1 and #GS2 used to play #WoW all the time before they discovered #Minecraft and #Minetest. Sent them https://nu.federati.net/url/281846 [massivelyop com] just in case.

Also got a Fathers' Day message from #sonOne on #Wire ... including a continuation of our discussion about trying to get #GS1 and #GS2 some vocational training. They moved out, so he cannot just enroll them at the local job training center.
-
Texted #GS1 a couple of times recently with no response. I surmise his phone is not working, since he's usually pretty good about responding.
-
#GS1 replies to my text messages eventually. Today it took 9 hours, but that’s faster than the historical trend.

#sonOne was teaching his boys ( #GS1 and #GS2 ) the national capitals of various countries. They didn't grasp it until the funny one (Bangkok). They learned that one quickly. Junior High minds.
They're now in their twenties. I don't know if they remember Paris or Moscow, but I'm sure they still know Bangkok.
-
I did alert #sonTwo, but since the family is all sick, they can’t go to a shelter anyway. #GS1 and #GS2 are also near the storms, but telling them to make sure their cell phones get emergency alerts is more than I can expect them to do. (Twenty-somethings.)

#GS1 replied to a weeks-old text message a few days ago. I still haven't replied back to his question.

Was able to #videochat with #sonOne, #GD1, #GD2 for about an hour and a half today on #Wire. He's been working 16 hours a day since June, but he got a week of vacation. It possibly means that he'll be unavailable again in a week, but I'll try to do #videochats with the kids.
Was informed that #GD1 lost her phone. #GS1 likewise lost his phone, but found it and sent it to sonOne because it wasn't accepting a charge. Daughter-in-law will make the six hour round trip to deliver the now-working phone to her son.
(Asked because both of them suddenly stopped responding to SMS.)

Received a 'thank you' text from #GS2 for his (delayed) birthday card + $25 visa gift card.
Not sure whether my daughter-in-law has talked with her oldest ( #GS1 ) yet to inform him that _his_ birthday card + gift card came to her.
He's the dutiful one, so I was concerned that sending a gift card directly to him would lead to "we need your $25 to help with the bills".
I know #GS2 is going to spend his birthday money on himself (as he should) and no amount of pressure would change that.
-
Talked with #sonOne about #GS1’s birthday gift. He did not object, so I’m clear to send it to my daughter-in-law and have her work out a way for him to get a little personal-use-only money.

Found two manga books in English for #GD1's upcoming 13th birthday. She started reading them a few months ago. I honestly have no idea whether the ones I found will be enjoyable, but I'll know in about a week.
I should ask her to have her mom call me. I can send #GS2's gift card directly to him, because I know he'll spend it on himself without question. I want to send #GS1's card to her and have her get it to him ... he's the "responsible" one that will be easily guilted into putting it toward the bills. (Yes, the bills need to be paid, and he's working in fast food, so probably not getting many hours to begin with; but you have to occasionally do things for yourself or you'll wind up bitter. "I never got anything for myself to enjoy" is a terrible place to be.)
-
I texted #GS1 and #GS2 today to ask for current physical addresses. The 23 year old responded back with an address. I'm going to send a $25 gift card. The 25 year old did not respond yet, so I'll send his gift card to my daughter-in-law with a "give this to $CHILDNAME next time you see or hear from him" note.

Sent a text to #GS1 (will be sending a similar one to #GS2):
> Do you ever wake up one morning and realize "the kids' birthdays were last month"? I did that today. Sorry.
