Pacific storm expected to impact !SoCal beginning tonight, including the #Inland_Empire. Portions of #I-15, #I-215, #I-10, #I-8 expected to be affected by snow. Mountains and passes could see up to 6 inches of snow. Gusty winds, with some places seeing up to 60MPH winds. Heavy rainfall in some areas, so expect urban flooding as well as debris flows & mudslides in burn scar areas.

I don't see #Riverside County on the list, but looking at the map, it looks like Blythe is on the edge of the rainfall zone.
If you are travelling across the Mojave Desert in any of these three states, be alert to flooding.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing Winter weather advisories and Winter storm advisories in #SoCal. #San_Bernardino and #Riverside counties: 1-4 inches of snow above 4,000 feet, 50MPH winds. In the High Desert and in the Morongo Basin, snow above 3,000 feet. Expect travel on #I-15, #US-395, #SR-18, #SR-247, #SR-62, #SR-138, #SR-58 to be disrupted.
I don't get alerts for #Kern, #Inyo, #Los_Angeles, #Orange, #San_Diego, #Imperial, #Ventura, #Santa_Barbara, #San_Luis_Obispo counties, but there are likely to be similar alerts for elevations in those areas. Should be just rain in areas below 3,000 feet ... but some flooding is possible.

Looks like one lane open on #I-5 near Grapevine / Tejon Pass. All lanes appear open on #I-15 around Cajon Pass, but fog, rain, and snow are present. Most of the cameras in the Mountain Pass area (between Baker and Primm) are out of service. #SoCal

Tomorrow / tomorrow night, #NOAA / #NWS forecasts snow in the passes N / NE of #Los_Angeles and rain at lower elevations. Potential for #I-5 and #I-15 to close. If you're coming to visit relatives in !SoCal, be aware.

#NOAA / #NWS winter weather advisories for the mountains of !SoCal’s #San_Bernardino and #Riverside counties: up to two inches of snow above 5,000 feet and 45-60MPH wind gusts along mountain crests and desert slopes. Plan on slippery roads, reduced visibility, downed tree limbs.
(They don’t mention the #I-15 or Cajon Pass at all, so it may not have a big effect on traveling to celebratory gatherings.)

@kai Entering convo late, with only partial view of what came before. But your ref to the cost of building a Santa Monica commuter rail line brings up a question that we may not be able to quickly or easily answer. How does that compare with the per-mile cost of extending the #I-210 freeway from the #CA-57 to the #I-15? The cost may or may not seem more reasonable when we compare with contemporary projects.
