Temperatures in the !SoCal deserts ( High Desert and Intermediate Desert / Mojave Desert and Amargosa Valley Desert and Great Basin Desert; Low Desert / Colorado Desert, Sonora Desert ) and the valleys of the #Inland_Empire above 100⁰F Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
In #NorCal, a co-worker says Sacramento is up to 106⁰F this week.
This is #too_hot, even without humidity.

They mention that the IE in !SoCal is a problem for them. However, I am hearing that some of that area's local high schools are sending a big chunk of their graduates (and non-graduates who aged out) to #Inland_Empire ${NASDAQ[AMZN]} warehouses.
I sincerely hope that the IE job market forces them to change, with better-paid unionized employees and no more need to piss in a bottle to avoid being docked for non-productivity.
But above all, I want the national environment (social and legal) to change, so that such behavior is curbed by threat of long and expensive lawsuits, breakup orders, fines, and large numbers of people refusing to work for them.

Reading about groundwater plumes in !SoCal #Inland_Empire counties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinkley_groundwater_contamination is famous, but there are many more.

I don’t get alerts for #Los_Angeles, #Ventura, or #Santa_Barbara Counties, but the radar forecast on https://nu.federati.net/url/279542 looks like they’re still up for heavy rainfall and flash flooding / urban flooding. Also, mudslides in areas near recent burn scars.
The #Inland_Empire counties ( #San_Bernardino and #Riverside ), where I do get alerts, still have #NOAA / #NWS warnings for both wind and rainfall, watches for flash flooding on the coastal side of the mountains.
If you’re in #SoCal, pay attention to where you’re driving.

Looked at both #SoCal #Inland_Empire counties. It looks like #Riverside County has a little bit more detail to their #COVID-19 vaccination plan than #San_Bernardino County does, but they both seem a little too generic to do much good.
A big part appears to be based on the idea that most people will commute long distances to each county’s central hospital for their shots. Geographically, SBCo is the largest county in the lower 48 states, larger than some entire states, so that is entirely unreasonable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Bernardino_County,_California
Both counties have tribal reservations within their territory, but Riverside notes that tribal health groups will receive their vaccines directly from the federal government.
I don’t see “take a truck and set it up in the parking lot of the local park as a mobile vaccination center” or “set up temporary centers in CVS and Walgreens drug stores”.

!SoCal #San_Bernardino County deputy fired https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/article245305330.html [www sacbee com]
It is rare for any #Inland_Empire cop to be fired, no matter how bad the conduct. And even then, they typically get hired by another department in the area.

By the way, most of #SoCal is under a major heat alert, including #Orange_County, the mountains and valleys of #San_Diego County, Imperial and Coachella Valleys and #Imperial_County, Santa Ana mountains, San Bernardino Mountains, San Gorgonio mountains, other mountains, valleys, deserts of the #Inland_Empire ( #Riverside_County and #San_Bernardino County ), high, intermediate, and low deserts.
Some places may see temperatures up to 116F (which is the hottest I’ve ever known it to get ... for a few days 15-20 years back). If you’re in SoCal, take precautions. I haven’t checked the news, but if beaches are open, I’d expect them to be ultra-crowded.

#SoCal #InlandEmpire having a creative writing “summer camp” for teens. This is the first one I’ve heard of, but apparently, it has been going on for a few years. This year, they’re focusing on fighting racism.
IMO, they should just teach the kids to express themselves as they write. As writers, the students will write about whatever is important to them, including the impacts of racism that they’ve observed.

The Los Angeles Times recently had an article about the potential devastation should Whittier Narrows Dam fail. I think they should follow up by looking at the Prado Dam in the Chino area, just because they have been near the point of mandatory evacuations a few times.
WND has the greatest potential impact in terms of lives lost, because it holds both the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel rivers, but PD could surprise everyone that thought the !SoCal #Inland_Empire and #Orange_County areas were safer.
