They spin this as a win, but (1) it wasn't the states' privacy that was being violated, so why is all the money being split by the states?, and (2) it says Google will make its settings more clear, but it does not say that location tracking and data sales will be OFF by default (which is how it should be). -

Rysiekúr Memesson (rysiek)'s status on Monday, 19-Oct-2020 11:00:37 UTC Rysiekúr Memesson Google started editing people's e-mails in GSuite, replacing links with a link through google.com:https://mobile.twitter.com/sneakdotberlin/status/1317734739537653760https://twitter.com/tblodt/status/1317875714981416962?s=20
This means that Google will track a click on a link *in e-mail* even if you're using an external client.
I am *guessing* this is under the pretext of phishing protection, but it actually *creates* additional phishing risk for text-only clients, since now all links are google.com links.

Yet another reason to wonder whether #Zoom’s management is just ignorant about #privacy and #security, or actively malicious. “End to end” encryption has a specific meaning, namely that messages sent from your device are encrypted until they arrive at your recipients’ devices, so that no one in between, including any service providers, can read the message payload. If that is not the case, it is not #E2EE. -

The Human (blort)'s status on Friday, 04-Oct-2019 18:30:52 UTC The Human WTF?! My non-rooted phone had #Google Maps pre-installed, but I only use #OSMand for navigation etc.
Yesterday, I walked to a local restaurant, without using my phone, and had lunch there before walking back.
I never opened #GoogleMaps.
Today, I find a notification from Maps:
How was {restaurant name}?
Rate places to get smarter recommendations. So it tracked and calculated where I ate without even opening my phone or the app.
Definitely time for #Pinephone / #LibreM

binfalse (martin)'s status on Monday, 12-Aug-2019 13:26:05 UTC binfalse Just (2019-08-12 3pm) received an email from #Eurostar about an updated #privacy policy that took effect a week ago (2019-08-05).
Of course, my privacy is important to them! And thus, I'm allowed to opt-out... But my browser warns a lot against doing so (see screenshot)..
And to get my data deleted I'm supposed to provide more personal data, including 2(!!) proofs of my ID... :angry_trump:
