@geniusmusing It sounds like a firmware upgrade redirects IP address access to router.asus.com. I have always used IP addresses directly for any in-network access. Apparently, #Asus did not consider how this requirement plus #HSTS would interact.
My entire network is offline right now (other than some phone hotspotting during this extended move), but I now intend to do all my network config from a #RasPi that is only used for in-network management tasks.

I'm planning to flatten and rebuild most of my SBC fleet (multiple types of !rpi and similar devices). I intend to leave a couple of #raspi 0w devices and one #orange_pi zero device as #boinc clients.

I should probably dedicate a #RasPi to trying this out. It is basically a rethinking of the #Beaker_Browser / #DAT / #Hyperdrive projects to make it easier for the sites & services offered to be useful ... and to stay up even when your browser closes.

Even though #Inet was restored to the house, the #RasPi 0W and RasPi 1B units are not reporting any #BOINC tasks.
-
Looked at #BOINCstats today. Two #RasPi Zero W devices and one original #Raspberry_Pi model B device are completing packets / work units, earning credit, but it hasn't shown up in the overall score yet. I guess the good thing is that they are contributing to various #BOINC projects.
The #XU4 is powered off, so its issues are not relevant to BOINCstats scores or rankings.

This is NOT a cluster, just a bunch of Raspberry Pi 3 (9 of them) and 2 (1 of them) computers each running BOINC and Gridcoin.

Turing Pi part 2: Flashing #RasPi compute modules and setting up Docker swarm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eUu3zydL6g
I'm definitely not buying a Turing Pi, but I admit that for a coordinated multicomputing system, the compute modules look like a great idea.

2nd delivery today, the 4 Pi stack rack that I'm sending to Iceloops. I'm throwing in a bonus Orange Pi Zero, so I'm going to wait for that delivery before shipping. I'll type up a packing slip, so he knows what I sent.
I can hardly wait to see photos of the assembled rack, especially after he gets at least one #RasPi to put on it and starts the process of building the #cluster he's been talking about.

@avalos Your instance is on a #RasPi? It seems to respond okay.
-
I should take a look at the #PJON networking protocol. See https://www.pjon.org/ ... I mean sometime soon. I’m definitely not doing it tonight.
Available for various microcontrollers, #RasPi devices, plus Linux & Windows OS

#Cassandra was fun. I should spin it up on a #RasPi and use it as a backend for $TOY_PROJECT.

While I'm thinking about it, does anyone know whether #MaidSafe is available for #RasPi or similar SBCs? It might be good to see what the MaidenSavers can do. #SAFENetwork

@moonman Is it worth trying to put #Urbit on a #RasPi?
-
Reading sites for things like #IPFS and #Beaker / #DAT and #MaidSafe / #SAFENetwork, some things are never stated.
If someone were to set up a #RasPi to be a node on one of these types of #peer-to-peer networks, would they need to set up NAT passthrough, or do their protocols already include something like STUN / TURN?
Mostly an academic question, as I’m not willing to potentially open up access to my home network.
-
I'm sure there's more to it than this, but 70,000 sites on 50 servers is 1,400 sites per server. That's likely to leave each site with less resources than if each was hosted on its own #RasPi somewhere.
-
@tealturtle @moonman
Pick a movie that you like and use the names of the movie's characters as hostnames.
(I need to do this myself. I ordered some !rpi Zero and #RasPi Zero W SBCs during this assignment, which are waiting for me to arrive in #SoCal.)
#NoteToSelf: Don't forget to order a !RaspberryPi 3 B+ to use with Pi-Hole.

@xj9 @geniusmusing Well, obviously, it is more than HTTP, but if you don't start there, you've lost most people already. The Web is still the primary way most people use or perceive the networked inter-network of networks.
.
If putting up lnxw37.rocks and smtp.lnxw37.rocks and xmpp.lnxw37.rocks on my home machine accessible isn't doable, then #self-hosting as a synonym for "hosting at home" is still out of reach for most people (even using a #raspi or similar)

@alpacaherder Looks like there are some options for adding an RTC to your !rpi depending on what model. https://nu.federati.net/url/81235 #raspi !raspberrypi
