Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:59:09 UTC Ricardus Here's everything wired up. The jumpers going to the connectors. The chassis ground, and the LED jumpers aren't hooked up yet. Because of the way Neutrik does their solder cups I soldered it like this, and then flipped it 180 degrees so it looked right installed.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:58:11 UTC Ricardus I also had to grind away some of the top channels in the extruded aluminum main body piece to accommodate the upper left screw in the XLR connector. The guy who designed this metalwork has his own PCB for this and it uses PCB mount connectors and I don't think they interfere like the standard panel mount XLRs. I burned up my shitty Dremel clone grinding these two pieces, but I got it done.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:56:04 UTC Ricardus Before assembly I had to drill a bigger hole for the LED than the metalwork was drilled for. No idea how big the original hole was but it needed to be 4mm so I reamed it out and made it the right size.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:55:07 UTC Ricardus Here's the stuffed PCB with the jumpers installed. The Mouser BOM had 1/4 watt resistors spec'd, and those big ones are 1/4 watt, but they were bigger than the space allotted in the PCB design so I had to do the vertical style mounting.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:53:29 UTC Ricardus Here they are the next day when everything was cured. I figured more epoxy was better than less here, so neatness wasn't a factor. I wanted to make sure they were strong. The PCBs will cover it up and hide most of the sins, and it's inside the box also.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:51:53 UTC Ricardus I didn't want to run screws through the metalwork to mount the PCB standoffs. The lines are too clean to mess up like that, so I epoxied them in. I Gorilla 5 min. epoxy, and used the PCB itself as an alignment jig and used a socket to hold it secure while it dried.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2019 01:46:50 UTC Ricardus Since I basically did this build in one day, here comes the build toot-storm.
These are the PCBs, which I think I already showed you.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Tuesday, 23-Apr-2019 00:36:09 UTC Ricardus I epoxied the PCB standoffs to the inside of the aluminum case. I didn't want to drill holes through these. It's too nice. It'll mess up the clean lines. I'm using a big socket to hold them tight to the body since a clamp wasn't a good option.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Friday, 19-Apr-2019 03:34:32 UTC Ricardus I'm awaiting another shipment from Germany with the metalwork for the DI's. Thats the only thing holding that build up. I can build up the PCB's in less than an hour, each, probably. Hopefully that parcel will arrive from Germany by Wednesday.

Ricardus (ricardus)'s status on Friday, 29-Mar-2019 14:39:26 UTC Ricardus Transformers have arrived for DI box build. These are the XLs. More headroom. The PCB was designed to work with 3 different popular transformers right out of the box.
