@clacke Sweden's water sounds great.
I have worked in 15 US states and I have never found a place where tap water tastes good. I always have to buy a filter or just buy bottled water.
The worst places were in #Mississippi (Jackson, Starkville #MS), #Louisiana (Baton Rouge #LA) and #California (Irwindale #CA).
In Irwindale, the water came out looking like diluted milk ... and stayed that way several minutes later. It is an old rock quarrying town, so I suspect it was just rock debris suspended in the water.
In Mississippi, the water came out yellow for a few days before getting clear again. The same thing happened in #Baton_Rouge, but it was only one or two days and it only happened once.

Watching the #NOAA / #NHC site’s updates about #Hurricane #Ian as the storm’s eyewall comes ashore in #FL. I’m used to watching the storm stream from WAFB-TV-9 in #Baton_Rouge #LA, but they are not covering this event in #Florida. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

@guizzy Yeah, I don't know if they got worse or I am just more aware. I agree that #KFC is near the bottom of the barrel in the quality of their food, the cleanliness of their restaurants, and the service they give.
Popeye's is better (but now that I've tasted the gas station chicken in #Baton_Rouge, #Popeyes is just a poor imitation). Better food quality, better service, better cleanliness.
#Burger_King, which has no concept of food quality, is consistently better than KFC.

If you like Popeye's fried chicken (the "spicy" version), you should try to visit Baton Rouge at least once. The gas station is across the street from the Greyhound bus station and it has the best tasting fried chicken that I've found.
Like most food in #Louisiana, it is salty. In this case, though, it isn't so salty that your mouth tingles or anything like that. You definitely do not want to make it your daily lunch or anything like that.
I don't currently have any specific plans to visit #Baton_Rouge, but I would like to go spend a week or so in Louisiana, including a day or two in #New_Orleans.

I wanted fried chicken all day, so I walked to Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen and got their imitation of the #Baton_Rouge gas station's chicken.

Think about this: according to US CDC, 81% of people globally do not wash their hands after they urinate or defecate. In some countries, they just do not have the infrastructure set up to allow that. But I noticed when I was working in #Baton_Rouge, #LA, one time that three out of five men did not even pretend to wash their hands. One out of five pretended, and one out of five actually did. As a fairly heavy coffee drinker, I spent a lot of time in the facilities "returning water", so I got pretty good at telling what was happening just by the sound.
Think about that for a moment. In a government office in the US, handwashing rates were approximately the same as the global rate, which includes people in countries or areas where soap and running water are not available.

When I was working in #Baton_Rouge #LA the first time (2013, I believe), the McDonald’s near the LSU campus messed up my no-salt well-done fries order so often that the manager finally said to go somewhere else.

Seeing @moonman talk about a power outage at the casino reminds me of being in #Baton_Rouge, #LA, several years back. There was a big storm moving in (with tornadoes and everything) and lots of wind and rain, but it was drive to the casino or starve, so Mark and I met there, while S went to a different casino in another parish. We were already inside and eating when the power went out. It came back after 10-15 minutes, and they let us stay there and eat (but they were not serving new guests until power came back). After we finished, he went to play some slots and I started my trek back to the hotel. Power went out again before I got out of the building.
I hadn't taken my company cell phone with me, so when I got back, I found that management was freaking out about the storm and afraid that people may have been hurt or killed. One guy had gone to see a movie (on Christmas day, imagine that) and turned his phone off. They had called everyone at least twice (and they followed with another couple of calls after I got back to the hotel). It was probably almost 17:00 US-Central when the movie guy turned his phone back on and found that he had dozens of panicked messages.
Lesson learned: get something that tastes decent that you can eat in the room instead of going to hotel and casino banquets for holiday meals. The casino food was expensive and not very good. There was a huge quantity, but there's only so much one person can eat.

@kelbot If you happen to visit #Baton_Rouge, #LA, GameStop sent me to a locally-owned competing store named GameWare to get a used #PSP a few years ago after my old one's battery swelled up. I bought 2 PSPs and a #PSVita, but sent one PSP to my son. Pricing seemed high, but I was there and I want the systems right away.

The various levee breaches in #IL, #MO, #AR, and other states have had one positive effect: the water levels on the Mississippi River are not rising as fast or high as predicted. USACE has not yet opened the Morganza spillway, because #Baton_Rouge and #New_Orleans, #LA, are less likely to be flooded.

39F in #Baton_Rouge, #LA. I know they’re shivering.

About the EBT thing, I suspect the rules have changed in the last 3-4 years. In #Baton_Rouge, #LA, there’s a gas station that sells fried chicken that tastes like Popeye’s spicy chicken, only better. I noticed a couple of years ago that they had a sign saying they now accept EBT for hot food purchases. I don’t know what restrictions, if any, remain.

Working with KW today for the first time in over a year (we were in a building in #Baton_Rouge, #LA). Tomorrow he heads southward to another building in #PR.

One year ago: on a cold, rainy #Louisiana day, I met #sonTwo and his wife for a meal in Hammond. It was my first time meeting my daughter-in-law.
There had been tornado warnings most of the way from #Baton_Rouge to Hammond, and up into #Mississippi, where they had spent a night or two camping.
Afterward, they went to New Orleans and then back home to #Florida, but we were under a 50-mile restriction, so I went back to BR.
My son just sent me a photo from that day. I look so OLD in that picture.

I'm still wearing the "fat" belt, but I'm now on the smallest hole. The other belt broke when I was in #Baton_Rouge #LA the last time, so if I lose any more weight, I'll be looking to replace my belt. I'm not going to try to get another hole punched. It's easier to just get another belt.
