@moonman #sonOne prefers reading sensors and turning motors with !Arduino to most of the common !RasPi projects, but he was thrilled when I sent a #BBB, two #BBGs (one wireless), and a micro sized !BBB.
Now that my grandson #GS2 is back home, I am hoping that the two of them work together on some projects.

“An end to the age of silence!” A grandparent (me) describes the feeling of renewed contact with a twenty year old grandson ( #GS2 ) after five years without contact.
-
#sonOne told me today that #GS2 is back in their home. He's been living about fifty miles from my #SoCal home for about four or five years. Now 20, he's been doing some projects with a #Raspberry_Pi (which is scheduled to be sent from #CA in the next week along with his other possessions). Naturally, I sent a Three B+ and a Zero W to #MO, so that my son and grandson have some stuff they can do together.

=-o ... My 7 year old granddaughter sent this to me. It has me wondering whether #GS2 is a #trekkie. #ST-TOS #ST-TNG

That was actually good to watch. Corbin's team lost a couple of matches, but I didn't see or hear any tantrums, quite unlike when I watched #GS2 and his friends play.

Forgot to ship #Little_Boy_A’s computer today. I’ll do it tomorrow. I’m going to ask #Daddy_A to have the five year old call me and tell me whether he likes it, because I don’t want to repeat the mistake of not getting enough direct communication with #GS2, resulting in no contact since he left #sonOne’s house.
-
@dragnucs Indeed it is. But when they offered to let #GS2 stay there, he knew what he was in for.

One day, I should ask what happened to the !rpi devices and !arduino stuff I bought for #GS2. I'm sure he couldn't take those items with him when he moved in with relatives on the other side of the family, seeing that they had a house rule: no more than 30 minutes of electronic devices (including phones, televisions, video games, computers, tablets, and so on) per day.
-
#GS1 and #GS2 are still half-asleep, but they did tell me that they *love* their #2DS handhelds.
-
@dragnucs He's staying with a relative from the other side of the family, about 50 miles from my home. There's some complicated family dynamics involved, but I have made sure #GS2 knows my arms are waiting to welcome him back into communion with the family.

I sent #GS1 a Steam code as a belated 22nd birthday present. I did not send anything to #GS2 for his 20th because I don't have contact info and don't know whether his current living arrangements allow him access to electronics.
-
SMS from 22 year old #GS1: he still uses Steam a lot. So I'll send him a code for his birthday. No answer to my question about whether 20 year old #GS2 still uses it. (The family member where 2nd grandson lives used to have a strict 30 minute daily cap on electronics.)
-
I completely forgot #GS1's 22nd birthday last week. I should text him and tell him I'm sorry. I should also have him relay 20th birthday greetings to #GS2 (some time in the next week, but I can't remember which day).
-
Got an #arduino for #GS2, but he's still not talking to our side of the family. Once I dig it out of my luggage, I should send it to someone that will put it to use.
-
Came across a few photos of #GS2 from 5-6 years back. Some happy, some a little sad. He's 19 now, and doesn't talk to our side of the family. I miss his little gremlin grin. #grandkids
-
Will probably offer (through his mother) to send #GS2 a couple of !Arduino boards, but I'm not expecting him to be receptive.
(He and #sonOne clashed; he moved in with relatives on the other side of the family and has not been in contact since. I live ~50 miles from him, but I was not even informed when he graduated from high school.)
-
@clacke I would definitely buy several of those. Every grandchild except #GS2 would get one. (I'd be willing to get him one, but he's not communicating with this part of the family, so he'd never receive it.)
-
@1iceloops123 I have been supporting Valve / Steam, because I buy $25 gifts for #GS1 at least 2-3 times per year. (I stopped buying them for #GS2 because he's staying with relatives who cap electronics use at 30 minutes / day.)
