Today’s #videochat with #sonTwo, #GS3, #GS4 was short. Their dinner was delayed and the kids were hungry. As soon as it was ready, we disconnected, so they could eat and start preparing for bedtime. The 1 year old grandson babbled something and then said something that sounded like “Grandpa” before babbling some more.

#sonTwo confirmed yesterday that #GS3 and #GS4 should have a younger sibling later this year.

This weekend, I had my regular #videochat with #sonTwo, #GS3, #GS4. The younger child had missed his nap, so he had gone to bed early. He heard Grandpa's voice and started crying until they brought him out to see me.
He tried to give me his bottle, then raised his arms to say "pick me up". At one year old, he hasn't quite grasped that the person in the tablet screen cannot just step through the glass. He's quite sleepy, but I think he's going to resist sleep as long as he can.
The three year old was repeating back everything I said, then he showed me his Spiderman toy and his book. Spiderman talks when you pull the string, so he got distracted with that and forgot about Grandpa until time to say goodnight.
There must have been some TV show where a character speaks in a growling voice, because GS3 kept reverting to that voice.
I did not have this week's call with #sonOne, #GD1, and #GD2. We'll have to try for next weekend.

In a recent discussion with #sonTwo, we discussed ways to ensure that #GS3 and #GS4 have a friend group consisting of individuals from a mixture of different ancestries and ethnicities / cultures. One thing that I think would be worthwhile is helping them learn at least one foreign language.

Since I send things to #GS3 and #GS4 regularly, #sonTwo said not to worry about trying to land on their birthdays. So they got a shipment of clothes and toys between their birthdays.
The older one received a stuffed Blue (from Blue's Clues) and a Blue's Clues singing toy. He's been having a great time singing along and trying to learn the words.
The younger one received a Tickle Me Elmo toy. He squeals with joy when it laughs and wiggles.
There was a kinetic sand treasure chest, which GS3 loved opening, but the treasure was too small for their ages, so the parents had to confiscate them. He did get to play with the sand.
And more underwear ... the Paw Patrol undies had already arrived, but now he also has Star Wars Baby Yoda.
Unfortunately, it was sent in multiple shipments, so most of the toys specific to 1 year olds will arrive in a few days, but all the toys for 3 year olds came in the first shipment. I alerted their dad to be prepared.

We didn't have our normal #videochat, where #GS3 and #GS4 tell me what they've been doing in their own languages, but we did have a short "say good night" videochat ... GS4 was already asleep, and GS3 was fast approaching his sleep time.

I've been buying clothes and toys for the birthday celebrations of #GS3 and #GS4. By the time I ship them, I think they'll just both get stuff on one's birthday.
Anyway, today I saw a "Paw Patrol" toy wristwatch. It has three games on it that are supposedly educational. (Ha! You are not fooling me.)
I did not get it, because I think they already have more than enough electronics. I'm buying stuffed animals, blocks, and similar toys.
#sonTwo and his wife don't really want #GS3 watching Paw Patrol (mostly because it doesn't teach any principles, it is just police and rescue pups saving someone in crisis), but he's seen it and he likes it a lot. But he does get to wear the Paw Patrol training pants and underwear I bought.

I bought some food. I also found a stuffed animal for #GS4 and a Blue's Clues stuffed dog for #GS3.

Speaking of music, I have to ask what song #sonTwo plays at home. #GS4 likes the song and dances every time he hears it.

#GS3's car seat has some damage. #GS4 is starting to outgrow his car seat. I got the notice that my travel reimbursement hit my bank account today, so both boys have new car seats on the way.

I sent #GS3 a sketch pad and some kids washable markers. I just got a picture of #GS4 with purple on his skin.
Daughter-in-law assures me that it washed off pretty easily.

#sonTwo reports that his wife and #GS3 are sick. #GS4 was sick a few days ago, but has recovered.
Meanwhile, #Daddy_A reports that the stress of his wife's recent hospitalization aggravated one of his medical problems, and that the doctor is considering which medication to put him on ... for the rest of his life.

Pricing baby car seats. The seats #GS3 and #GS4 use need to be replaced. GS3's seat is supposed to be usable up to age 8, but it appears something is damaged. GS4 is outgrowing his seat.
I know what I'm ordering when my pay clears the bank.

Last night's #videochat was mostly about getting some time with #GS4. He's standing and working on walking and babbling at Grandpa. He believes that any time someone eats, he should eat also.
#GS3 is at the "no, I don't like that" stage, so no matter what dinner is, he doesn't want it until he is enticed to try it. He was just starting to eat as we started the videochat.
The younger child kept trying to go over to where his brother was sitting and eating, so he could try to eat with him.
At the end, GS4 went to bed, GS3 decided he wasn't going to say goodbye. We hung up. GS3 started crying because he didn't get to say goodbye, so we reconnected, but he still refused to say it.

Got to have a short #videochat with #GS3 and #GS4. The older child was unhappy at first because they turned off his cartoon. Then he felt better and told me about one of his Dog Man books.
And apparently, his books about dinosaur-construction equipment hybrids are called Diggersaurus.
We're going to finish our chat tomorrow, since the younger child needed to go to bed.

Whatever "Montessori toys" are, #GS3 and #GS4 have been having a blast since yesterday.
I expect that they are old-style wooden blocks and things like the rings on the vertical rod.
Whatever they are, I had them shipped and they love them.

During our #videochat, #GS4 grabbed #sonTwo's Diet Coke and spilled it all over himself. Prior to that, #GS3 felt that the younger child was competing for attention that only he deserved.
Grandpa must make sure that both of them know they are loved and that there is enough attention for both of them.

#GS4 has a toy that he stands and pushes. Now he's trying to figure out how to walk, so he can keep pushing it. The time is coming soon.

Shipment arrived and #GS4 is very happy with a talking, singing book I sent.

I'm surprised it wasn't appealed. Even though the state capital is in Cole County, there's got to be a state supreme court.
In the meantime, I suspect that #GD1 and #GD2 will continue to be home schooled because of such idiocy. I know it is still a few years away, but I will recommend the same for #GS3 and #GS4 when they approach school age.
