#TropStorm watch for Turks and Caicos islands and the Dominican Republic, heavy rainfall and tropical storm conditions nearing the leeward islands as #PTC9 approaches. Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine also brings tropical storm warnings to Puerto Rico ( #PR ) and the Virgin Islands ( #USVI and #BVI ), Guadeloupe, Martinque, St Martin, Saba, St Eustatius, St Maartin. Some areas of #DR under tropical storm warning.
Caribbean interests should pay attention to their local weather agency’s warnings. Expected to be a tropical storm by tomorrow morning. At this time, not expected to become a #hurricane.

Atlantic: #TD7 is now #TropStorm #Gonzalo, expected to become a hurricane tomorrow. There is still something spinning up in the Gulf of Mexico, heading WNW toward #TX and #LA, but its chances of becoming a damaging storm are low.
Pacific: TropStorm #Douglas is now a #hurricane and still strengthening.

Looking at the #NOAA / #NHC site, https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ , I see #Hurricane Dorian is still lashing the Bahamas with wind speeds of 185MPH (that’s about 300km/h) gusting up to 200MPH (that’s about 325km/h) and storm surge up to 23 feet (that’s about 7 meters).
For #FL, it looks like the storm center will be North of Miami, but a storm is not a dot. It is an irregular roundish spiral-like area that can be hundreds of miles across. Nearly all of Florida (and parts of #GA, #SC, #NC, #VA) is likely to face some part of this storm.
On the West Coast, #TropStorm Julliette is heading away from land, so its progrssion toward hurricane status should not be of major importance.

Reports from San Juan metro and Ponce, #PR, say #Hurricane Dorian missed the island almost entirely. One friend was scheduled to depart PR before the storm, but many flights were cancelled. He’s leaving as soon as airlines are back on track.
