One #Kansas farmer feeds more than 155 people--and you!
Or so the signs say. https://nu.federati.net/url/273351
#KS #farming
I do not know where the number is derived from. But if other "factory farm" type agricultural enterprises are similarly productive, then they may feed the bulk of the world's population.

Severe #t-storm warnings across much of Kansas City (the #KS side, #KCK) right now. 60MPH wind gusts, large hailstones. Radar indicated. This system is moving eastward at about 35 MPH

Some severe #t-storms coming through parts of #KS and #MO tonight. Also #IL. I have no information about storms in #NE, #IA, #AR, or #OK.
So far, I've seen no tornado alerts, but #NOAA / #NWS is pumping out severe thunderstorm, flash flooding, and minor river / stream flooding alerts this evening.

inws is getting annoying again. There were severe storms in #KS and #MO over the past few days, so now I'm getting overloaded with alerts about streams and rivers that are at minor flood stage. The reason it is annoying is because they cannot consolidate all the flooding alerts for a particular area (or even a particular stream or river as it flows through a particular area), so one river might cause five or more alerts (sent by SMS and e-mail), and those alerts might be modified in 3-6 hours, causing them to be re-sent.

The #NOAA / #NWS flash flood and theurban & small stream flooding warnings for the #KS - #MO border area are ending. I received about 30-35 messages about it between last night and this morning.

#NOAA / #NWS sending #tornado warning for the Kansas City area. Both #KS and #MO, near Leavenworth, Atchison, St Joseph until 15:00 CDT.
If you're in the area, take cover now.

Okay, I think that's going on our calendar whenever I'm in that area. ("Our" == me, #sonTwo and his wife, #GS3; potentially #GS1 and / or #GS2, too, as they are in that corner of #KS.)

Next time I'm in SE #KS and SW #MO, I want to visit Pittsburg and try the chicken. http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20200429-americas-fried-chicken-war

#NOAA / #NWS has sent over 60 alerts about severe #t-storms from Salina #KS to Columbia #MO. If you are in that area, make sure your weather radio works and your phone receives emergency notifications.
-
There are watches and warnings for severe #t-storms and #tornadoes across most of eastern #KS and most of #MO. Probably parts of #OK, #AR, #NE, #IA, #IL, too. #NOAA / #NWS

Looking at https://rt.live today, it looks like eight states ( #WI, #MN, #IN, #KS, #IA, #DE, #NE, #ND ) are still seeing positive growth in the number of cases of #COVID-19 ... based on the number of people infected by each person who is infected. Most of the rest should be seeing slight declines. I think "open up quickly and get back to work" is a mistake, but once state officials see this, they'll immediately become sensitive to business & financial interests that are wanting to get back to work.

Meanwhile, #NOAA / #NWS is warning about minor flooding along portions of streams and rivers in #KS and #MO. There were some decent rains upstream recently. So far, only fifteen alerts today.
The usual advice applies: don’t drive through floodwater, as you cannot always tell how deep it is until you’re already in trouble.

#NOAA / #NWS now issuing Winter storm warnings from mid-Kansas to mid-Missouri and beyond. Expect mixed precipitation (snow, ice, freezing rain) across most of #KS and #MO. Probably beyond those states, but that's where I have alerts set up. (I've got to get my alerts set up for #NE.)
-
#NOAA / #NWS issuing Winter weather advisories for tomorrow and Wednesday across the KC Metro and mid-MIssouri from just East of Salina, #KS, almost all the way to Kirksville, Nevada, and Columbia, #MO.
Mixed precipitation with 1-3 inches of snow and 0.1 inch of ice are expected to make driving dangerous.
