!SoCal #San_Bernardino County deputy fired https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/article245305330.html [www sacbee com]
It is rare for any #Inland_Empire cop to be fired, no matter how bad the conduct. And even then, they typically get hired by another department in the area.

By the way, most of #SoCal is under a major heat alert, including #Orange_County, the mountains and valleys of #San_Diego County, Imperial and Coachella Valleys and #Imperial_County, Santa Ana mountains, San Bernardino Mountains, San Gorgonio mountains, other mountains, valleys, deserts of the #Inland_Empire ( #Riverside_County and #San_Bernardino County ), high, intermediate, and low deserts.
Some places may see temperatures up to 116F (which is the hottest I’ve ever known it to get ... for a few days 15-20 years back). If you’re in SoCal, take precautions. I haven’t checked the news, but if beaches are open, I’d expect them to be ultra-crowded.

Statues: I have been to Mississippi and seen Confederate monuments "Dedicated to the men who fought for our freedom" on courthouse lawns. So, no, leaving particularly egregious statues in places of honor is not acceptable. Yet, those people and their acts are part of our history, and I do not want us to forget them.
.
I don't have a full solution, but moving some statues to museums, and putting statues of less horrid people and events up next to others is a better way forward than either leaving all the statues in place or toppling and beheading them.
.
While most of the US is distracted by statues, two Black men were found hanging in #SoCal. One on 2020-05-31 near the Victorville library, and one 2020-06-10 near the Palmdale city hall. In both cases, Sheriff's deputies quickly said "suicide" ... but in #Los_Angeles County, a member of the Board of Supervisors has asked the California Attorney General to investigate. As far as I know, #San_Bernardino County has not asked for a light to be shined on their own potential lynching.
