#sonOne is back at home. #sonTwo planned to have a #videochat before he left, so #GS3 can talk to his uncle, but it was okay because grandpa still got to talk to him.
We had some discussion of trying to coordinate a family trip to #NYC so we can all see the city together.
Also today, I drove to another office in #NYState. I don't know how far away #Quebec is, but I saw a school bus with its stop sign in another language (I think FR).

After about 24K steps yesterday, and 13K steps today, both of us are tired and sore. I’m heading to another part of #NYState tomorrow, while he’s heading home.
I had a really good time. I think it was 3 years since I saw #sonOne last, and close to 5 years since I visited his home ( #GD2 was 5-6; now she’s 10 ). We’re planning for me to visit, followed by a visit to #sonTwo and a possible one-day trip to see #Daddy_A.

Today, we saw both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History. We walked through Central Park. And we went to the observation deck of Radio City Music Hall. We almost went ice skating, but the price was too high.
It would have been #sonOne's first time ice skating. I've gone before, but probably not in 45+ years. #NYC

For the second time in the last five years, I see my oldest in person. Both times because he flew to the area where I was. Tomorrow, we try to see (part of) the City.
After the ramen, we shared updates about family and friends. We talked about career goals. We talked about the geopolitical situation. And we talked about the difficulties involved in #sonOne coming to #NYC.

Today was my last work day at the #NYC location. Next week, I'll drive to another location in #NYState and work at that office for an undetermined period.
I think my cousin is still here in New York, but I'm probably not going to get to meet him. By his description of the area, he was working really close to where I was working, but we never saw one another.
Now I'm trying to decide whether to go to the chicken place or the Italian place for tonight's dinner. I should probably go to the chicken place. #sonOne and I can go to the Italian place tomorrow or Sunday.

Bought "1619" books for #sonOne and #sonTwo. And me. And my mom. Now #GD1 and #GD2 have read a related book. We're hoping to have a #videochat where we talk about some of the ideas and stories.

#Daddy_A got a phone for nine year old #A1. I sent the lad a photo from the office window at work, but he did not respond. I will try to call him Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, cousin #GD2 reports that her phone doesn't take a charge any more. I planned to call her also, but it will have to wait until #sonOne replaces her phone.

#TN school board bans Pulitzer prize winning graphic novel depicting the author's family's experiences during the #Holocaust because it contains "bad words" and nudity.
I hadn't heard of #Maus before, but now I have ordered a copy for #GD1 (age 14). It should arrive in about a month. I alerted #sonOne to preread it, so that he'll be ready for any questions.

S got her booster, said she had a stomach-ache. Took a nap, says she feels fine. #sonOne got his booster, feels alternating hot and cold, headache, muscle aches.
-
#sonOne: Do you need me to come out there?
No. So far, it feels like a cold + headache + sudden temperature swings. (Mark describes similar symptoms and suspects he caught it in the Philadelphia airport. But I've been mostly in my hotel room for three weeks, so I don't have any idea how I would have gotten this.)
I had some in-person support scheduled for tomorrow. Was able to get another employee to cover that for me.

I discovered 'Yo Gabba Gabba!" and Dancey Dance Time by accident about twelve years ago. I was heading to #GD1's 2nd birthday , and stopped at a store to ask what toy was popular with that age group. The employee pointed to a green striped character with horns. I bought it.
Months later, #sonOne found the show with that character in it.

#GD2 reports that the first box of gifts arrived early. She and #GD1 have already opened it and taken possession of the items.
She says they both like what they got. (I hope #sonOne explains that I did not spend $2K for a handbag, so the younger daughter does not expect me to send a similarly expensive item in a few years when she is that age.

#sonOne: Also no surprise MO would block anything that actually supports the public good since that means people can’t be selfish. I mean, have their personal freedoms

Boxes ready to ship for #sonOne's kids and for #Daddy_A's kids. #sonTwo's kids' shipment is mostly, but not completely ready.
Walked into a mall to look for something for my mom, but it was all Louis Vitton and Gucci ... that sort of store.

RIP Tony, one of #sonOne’s closest friends. I hadn’t seen Tony in over 20 years, since he was in his early twenties. This was one of the few where they were still fairly close more than two decades after graduation. I think he lived within a mile or two of where I currently live.
I’m not travelling to #SoCal for the funeral, but 1st son is going to attend.

I'd like to see whether a bunch of people born in 1985-1990 understand computers enough to:
(1) download a zipped file of their choice to their Downloads folder;
(2) go to their Documents folder and create a subfolder named "[zipname]_content" ... if the zipped file was "abc.zip", then the created folder should be "abc_content";
(3) extract the zipped file's contents into their newly created folder;
(4) open a program, navigate to the folder, and open the extracted contents in that program.
I suspect that this Xennials subgroup is too narrowly drawn when thinking about computer skills. I know that most people at work younger than about 30 years old cannot do the above. I am not sure whether 30-35 year olds can do so.
I do agree that there was a big change in child rearing between 1977 kids and 1987 kids. ( For example, #sonOne and his friends could get on their bikes and go for a ride together; #sonTwo and his friends were always accompanied by someone's parent. There were also changes in how kids got to and from school. )

FDA approves Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for emergency use in ages 5-11. https://nu.federati.net/url/283342 [www fda gov]
#sonOne is happy to be able to get #GD2 vaccinated.
I just thought about it, but I don't know whether her older siblings #GS1 and #GS2 are vaccinated. It may be that only one ( #GD1 ) out of 9 grandkids is currently vaccinated.

Meanwhile, #sonOne is trying to plan a visit here in #NYC. He wants to time it to match my one day off, so we can see the sights of the city. I guess I'd better ride the subway a few times, so I can get to wherever the tour would start.
-
#sonOne sent me a photo from 8 years ago. Me holding #GD2 (now age 9), while #GD1 (now age 14) clamors for her turn.
I’ve got to get back to their part of the country before those kiddos forget I exist.

#GD2’s book shipment arrived today. #sonOne says he’s going to continue their daddy-daughter book club and reward her for each book she completes and is able to discuss in their club.
When her brother #GS2 was this age (9) or a little older, I had suggested something similar, but it never happened. I’m glad to see this happening with this amazing little girl.
