@ckeen @geniusmusing
The #VPS setup was Debian, 4GiB of RAM. I changed the #YaCy settings to use up to 2GiB of that. YaCy was installed and regularly updated through APT. I allowed it to connect to the “OneWorld” network of peers. I think It used port 8090.
No other services were installed.

I used to host #YaCy on a #VPS, but I’m currently using metager.org (because search.yacy.net has been broken for a little while)

@sikkdays On some of the "LowEndBox" type #VPS providers, you'll suffer for the sins of their other clients. More reputable providers (e.g., Linode, Vultr, Digital Ocean) will quickly delete accounts of spammers, so they should not have a poor reputation.
I'm told that MIAB and IRedMail pay some attention to checking all the big mail providers' NoSpam boxes. I haven't actually used them, so all I know is what others tell me.

@whistlewright A #VPS with an outdated webapp was compromised. The intruder installed a php cryptominer. I believe Charles had something similar happen a few months ago.

@moonman If you're on #Digital_Ocean, my experience is that something about their droplets' default configuration hindered both #MySQL / #MariaDB and #PostgeSQL performance. A smaller resource #VPS on #Linode runs them much better than DO.
.
I may try one on #Vultr soon.

Yes. I had rented a cheap #VPS which only had an #IPv6 address. I wound up swapping it with one of my sons, who had a VPS with only an #IPv4 address.

Found that #sonOne is no longer using a little #OpenVZ #VPS we shared. I'll call him later to let him know, but "dove" is no more.

Looking at another #VPS and noticing that it runs an older version of my (sort of) standard set up. When I get home in a couple of weeks, I think I'll see about making a script to check some of these.

It's about time to send @mikael some money for the #VPS, too.
