@alpacaherder Maybe living near #Los_Angeles has spoiled me, but I've known for years that usually, those facilities only benefit the teams that play in them. Which means that taxpayer money, whenever possible, should not be used in any way. Not buying the land, not building the facility, not ongoing maintenance.

If a place with 50K residents builds a stadium / arena for its minor league team, that's one thing. You know it is a gift of city funds. But when the stakes get larger, the team should pay all or nearly all the price, since they get all the benefit.
