The other thing about #TUR / #DRM in printer cartridges is that some business-class toner cartridges have expiration dates. There may be nothing else wrong with the cartridge except that your company's purchasing folks bought in bulk and you haven't used them all, and the cartridges will still stop working after a certain date.
* TUR = Technical Usage Restrictions. DRM (Digital Rights Management) is just a euphemism to make TUR seem "right".
