   @1iceloops123 GS started drifting away from fully following #Twitter's lead even before it was GS. But every time, there were loud protests before people accepted it. There were always better sites than T, such as Pownce (connections were two-way only), Jaiku (conversations and something akin to groups), StatusNet (character limit set by the dentmaster/admin; optional rich text through Textile and later Markdown; groups; federation).
