@mangeurdenuage Well, by the time nations were starting to check for infected arrivals, some are likely to have already gotten in. Definitely by the time they blocked off Wuhan and Hubei, infected people had gone way beyond the province.

@mangeurdenuage I think one of the early #conspiracy_theories about #COVID-19 / #2019-nCoV is that the Wuhan virus research center accidentally released it, and that was why they were able to gene-print it so quickly.
At this point, I think the priority should be finding ways to stop it's spread of destruction (e.g., vaccines). It was clearly already outside the boundaries of the quarantines before any of them were put into place, so that tactic is a failure.

The rest of the world still has only about 1/8 the number of cases that China has, but China's cases appear to be levelling off, while everywhere else is just starting to climb. That's what I meant by quarantine being too late.
Now, each country can have domestic quarantines that keep people from infected towns away from uninfected towns, but as a long term tactic, that's doomed. From what I've heard, in the US, a judge allowed someone to leave quarantine who was later found to be infected. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/264824
