   I've just heard of this, and I don't have any strong positive feeling about reliability of articles published on QZ. Suggest you do your own research, as I also will.

     I'm not sure whether they're advocating for replacing _all_ gas appliances, or just stoves. I prefer cooking on electric anyway, so I'm fine with replacing gas stoves with electric. But if you live in an area with regular or frequent power outages, you probably do not want electric heating for your home ... especially for people that live in cold areas.
     
     Probably would have to look at house fires caused by the heating system to decide that one.
