@abreakinglass no. #strategy. Getting the 99% to break into two polarized gangs and clobber each other is an excellent way to protect the 1%
- Bob Mottram repeated this.

@strypey @abreakinglass I'm not generally in favour of punching anyone, but as one article mentioned, once the social cost of publicly being a nazi rises above zero then many weakly affiliated nazis will leave that group. Nazism is a genuinely repulsive ideology, so it doesn't take much to change minds.

@strypey @abreakinglass there is that aspect. But there's also the issue that as the conditions of life get harder the gain gets amplified such that pre-existing minor differences turn into Twitter brawls. When the stakes are high small things matter more.

@abreakinglass @strypey There's a saying attributed to Kurt Tucholsky:
At which a diplomat from French Ministry of Foreign Affairs replies: “The war? I can’t find it too terrible! The death of one man: that is a catastrophe. One hundred thousand deaths: that is a statistic!”
At some point the numbers don't really matter because it's all appalling. Whether it's a hundred or a hundred thousand it's all too many.
