1. #NOAA / #NWS does not name Winter storms. That's a marketing ploy by The Weather Company (currently a subsidiary of IBM).

2. Sounds a lot like Superstorm Sandy, where three different storm systems (including a hurricane and a Winter storm) merged into one big mess.

3. The nation's disaster response community is already overstretched, understaffed, and underfunded. Congressional inaction is the worst thing about the expected big event.
