@bthall Yes, but not directly on hardware. I used virtual machines running #FreeBSD and #DragonflyBSD inside the old #VMWare player, then tried #NetBSD in #Virtualbox 5 or more years ago.
I also was once a #LinuxMint user.

@bthall In the late #1990s and early #2000s, the #FreeBSD install process was only a little bit more difficult than the #Red_Hat / #Fedora process was.
Since then, nearly every #Linux distro has gotten way easier to install and I haven't kept track of #BSD installation processes (but for example, #ArchLinux and #NetBSD were both more difficult than average, while #Gentoo is easy, but very long).

@bthall You could try out #TrueOS https://www.trueos.org/ an easier to install desktop #BSD system.

@kai @bthall As far as I know, I've never installed #OpenBSD. Now that I have a few !rpi devices waiting for me at home, I should see whether any #BSD operating systems have ports to that platform.

@kai If you're used to installing #Ubuntu or #LinuxMint, the #BSD installers are very likely to be harder for you relative to Ubu/Mint, even in a VM. Not impossible, by any means, but not as simple and easy as what you're used to.

@bthall @kai I doubt that #apt / #apt-get (or #yum / #urpmi / #dnf) is available for #BSD, but they have their own systems for installing & managing software.
