@cheesegrits I expect so. But I also think he's right on many of those points. Cultism is bad in the longer term, but drives clicks and merchandise sales in the short term. And it's the searchability and brand familiarity which keeps YouTube from being usurped no matter how much they piss off video makers with adpocalypses. If PeerTube had federated search then this might go some way towards making a real YouTube alternative.

@bob #YouTube's search is atrocious, considering who their owner is. You can know a certain video is there and never be able to find it unless you have a direct link. The same video could have been in the suggestions list a few months earlier.
