I'm going to order our #SSDs today. We won't complete these PCs by year's end, but both #lazyNephew and #Daddy_A are thrilled with them already. (Ryzen 2200, GTX 1060, 16GiB of RAM should be decent.) -

Am I baa-d for occasionally calling #Daddy_A by his somewhat embarrassing childhood nickname? I get so much joy out of calling him that (mostly because I still see the twelve year old that was so shy that his science teacher started putting him in one-to-one situations with other students where he had to speak). -

Got my first glimpse of the lighted fans I bought for #Daddy_A in a video he sent of the new computer and its alternating red and blue lights. His cousin #lazyNephew got the same kit (identical computers), but his seemed to be constant red when I saw it. -

@geniusmusing #NextCloud is planned to be part of the next generation of FOS (family online services), but the whole thing will have to wait until I have *time and energy to set it up (unless I can persuade #sonOne or @amic to set up and run it).
* time and energy — I was discussing (on #Wire) the greatly reduced energy and motivation that three years plus of travel and overtime has brought with #sonTwo and #Daddy_A and @amic earlier today. -

According to #Daddy_A, there is also a block-based programming editor that has a couple of different levels of difficulty, culminating in some use of #JavaScript. -

#Little_Boy_A is as thin as his dad was at that age, but a little taller from what I can tell. I’m hoping he does not go through the same level of “horizontal enhancement” in that #Daddy_A did. -

#Daddy_A has started assembling his new computer (Ryzen 5 1600, ASUS B350 motherboard, 16GiB RAM, NXZT case, etc), but during the process of getting it, we made a couple of changes, so he’s possibly going to be assembling a 2nd machine out of leftover parts (and some additional parts we’ll buy). -

#lazyNephew sent me a link claiming there is a shortage of GTX 1070 GPUs. He’s got the GTX 1060 right now. I’m going to order the 1060 for myself and for #Daddy_A tonight. -

#sonOne and #Daddy_A report from #KCMO and #Omaha that the grandkids did go trick-or-treating last night. He said nothing about the wheelchair, so I assume the 29 year old was able to walk around the neighborhood with the kids. -
