    There are still plans to expand !fnetworks. Things are on hold due to my feast or famine employment schedule (and resulting financial peaks and valleys), but eventually, there should be multiple instances of #Fediverse software, #xmpp, and other federated things, most available under a unified Federati Networks account.

    I don't think the #Fediverse needs to replicate "the Facebook experience" in order to dethrone it. I think mimicing #Facebook leads to #ReactOS syndrome: where you're chasing a moving target that has far more resources than you do, so you get farther behind every year.

    My only exposure to #Gab is the people who fled and came to the #Fediverse, so I'm not a fan in any way. They don't seem to get that the sh*t they post is the reason that their server keeps losing its hosting, and that no instance admin with any sense wants their other users left "homeless" when Gab-posters' cause de-hosting.

    But seriously, how have they not looked at building their own #P2P network instead of crawling from hoster to hoster and from one type of server software to another? If they are "persecuted" and driven off again and again, the last thing they should be thinking is "we'll fork #Mastodon and try to hide our server in the Fediverse".

    Centralized ( #Corpocentric ) networks have centralized costs, so there will always be pressure on the central organization that controls the network to bring in more money. More users; more equipment & network bandwidth; more advertising revenue, more employees; more (higher) salaries; more (higher) dividends to stockholders; ... oops, we need more users to justify all this spending.

    There are definitely costs to #DecentraLife, and I don't think we talk about that enough, but from my perspective, even spread over the whole #Fediverse, the cost/benefit ratio is still superior to the corpocentric networks.

    I work for $EMPLOYER, a government agency which remains unamed due to their fear of appearing to endorse the things I say.

    I generally work too much (3000 - 3500 hours per year the last few years). I try to remain in touch with my kids and grandkids, having realized that I missed a lot by being at work all the time. ( I spent more time with #sonTwo than with #sonOne or #Daddy_A, partly because he came and hung out at my workplace at the time. ) I am actively attempting to reduce that to something more reasonable, so that the younger grandkids (currently 11 and younger) will know me as the granddad that is present and involved.

    Politically, I'm a centrist. By this, I mean that I reject the overall viewpoints and the dangerous and harmful plans of both the left and the right. I also disagree with many others who call themselves centrists.

    I reject the US Democrat and Republican twin parties, generally choosing to vote for candidates who are not part of either organization. I do not believe that either the federal government or any corporation is the savior of the people. (Nor do I believe in any form of anarchism.)
