@mangeurdenuage Yeah, I agree. I looked at the Qvitter interface for #GNUsocial and decided that I did not want a #JavaScrippled instance. I wish the #Pleroma folks would make a minimal JS interface. -

And if you're considering #Shoyu ( #iOS app ) as your #GNU_Social client, it is garbage. It apparently was an old Twitter client that supports Twitter's functionality from several years ago, and very little else. It is slooo-o-o-o-o-o-owwwww to post, even when other clients are not.
I haven't seen anything else for iOS that supports GS, but it might be worth going to the big blue discount store (aka #Walmart ) and buying their $80 #Android device, so you can use #AndStatus instead. AndStatus is not known for being fast, but it can run circles around Shoyu, even running backwards, with its eyes closed and its ankles bound. -

@licho !gnusocial Does GSNO use the "Store Remote Media" plugin? Some instances do not use it because of disk capacity or legal fears. -

@licho #Mastodon 3.x and #Pleroma 2x no longer speak the #OStatus federation protocol. !GNUsocial 2.0 will add the #ActivityPub federation protocol, so ask your admin to be ready to upgrade soon. -

@strypey @clacke #ActivityPub support is already in the #GNU_Social (2.0.0-dev) codebase that many instances currently use, it just isn't working so well (from what I can tell, Mastodon signatures don't verify). They're working on fixing that -

@xj9 #GNU_Social's #ActivityPub support is not quite ready for use in non-testing instances. Currently, there's a problem with verifying Mastodon's signatures. ( Neither @lain@lain.com nor @tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com can see this response because their instances no longer speak #OStatus. ) -

@guizzy It's the way all these things work. I've seen loads of resurrected threads on #Pleroma and #Mastodon as well as #GNUSocial when someone deletes their account. Their home instance sends out deletes for every individual post they ever made, which modifies the conversations those posts were part of. -

@dragnucs What you said about #OStatus is not really true. #GNU_Social downloads more than just 1 or 2 posts when I subscribe to people, and #Mastodon also does and it did long before they added #ActivityPub. -

Curiouser and curiouser. #Shoyu ( #GNU_Social app for #iOS) seems to only posts by local (to this instance) users in the timeline. Could be some undocumented configuration setting. Could also be the built-in behavior. -

@bthall Oh, cool. Welcome to the #Fediverse, @freakboy3742. You're not just on Mastodon\.social. There are other sites running the #Mastodon software and sites running other software ( #GNU_Social, #Pleroma, #Friendica, #Hubzilla) that are also part of this network.
Most people are not obsessed with #Twitter (and we don't all use the #Birdsite nickname). If you watch some tags for the types of content you're looking for, chances are you'll find more of it, though maybe less than you see on Twitter. Smaller network, fewer people, less content. -

@notclacke @dwmatiz There's an #OAuth bug in #GNU_Social (introduced in the last 2-3 years) that make #Mustard "unauthorized" to post. Since #AndStatus only connects by username password, it isn't affected. That's the primary reason I use AS. I should conect Mustard by username / password and use it as my main client again. Faster, more responsive, shows posts that AS never does. -

Whatchutalkinbout Willis? #GNU_Social has supported federated polls since the #StatusNet days, and long before #Twitter added it. (I don't think Qvitter supports polls, but there are other reasons to avoid it already.)
