I got to #videochat with #GS4 & #GS5 yesterday. #GS3 was watching TV, and did not participate. We’re going to have another videochat today, without any television 📺 to interfere.
The almost two years old child was at the limit of his verbal expression, but he was clear about what he was saying. “I’m happy that we’re having this chat, but I want you to come back and talk in person.”

This is Australia. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-03/ex-tropical-cyclone-ellie-maintains-strength/101822894 .
I was going to send #GS3 info about this wurricane, but I forgot.

Although I also think that one of the boxes from "KiwiCo":{https://www.kiwico.com/} would probably be a better idea for #GS3 at his current age.

I've been talking with #sonTwo and #Daddy_A about getting a 1 year subscription to https://www.crunchlabs.com/ for #GS3 and #A1. For the soon-to-be 4 year old, I think we should get the kits and set them aside along with instructions and downloaded videos, so he will have them in 2027 even if the program is no longer in operation. For the soon-to-be 10 year old, I wish I had known about this when he was 8.

Watching Mr Weatherman's forecast for the Caribbean. I really miss watching this with #GS3. #wurricanes

The family photos we took when I was at #sonTwo's house have come back. This photographer did a much better job of getting the kids' attention than their previous photographer did. There are pictures where both #GS3 and #GS4 are smiling and looking toward the camera at the same time.

#sonTwo informs me that they celebrated their holidays early, as his wife and kids will be going to her parents' home for the holidays. He's got to work, so he'll be home. #GS3 got his favorite "Gup" https://nu.federati.net/url/288815 and keeps it with him all the time. (He has to, or #GS4 will try to take it.)

Had a #videochat with #GS3 and #GS4. During the chat, the 3.5 year old carried the phone around the house and found a missing steak knife on the floor underneath something. I sent #sonTwo a text message telling him to ask his son where the knife is.
The 1.5 year old asked me to pick him up. His word for that is "down".

#GS3 was on the phone with his other grandpa. He told him about the rocket launch we watched, and about the way that high pressure zones help guide a tropical storm’s movement. His grandfather was amazed that a three year old knows such things.

I waited to say goodnight to #GS3 and #GS4, but we missed our time slot.
-
Daughter-in-law called and put #GS3 on #videochat before his bedtime. He was engaged the entire call, telling me about things he did today, things we did together before I left, and talking about things I did not even understand.
-
Well, I should say that #GS3 is watching it. #GS4 is not paying attention at all. The adults are watching while doing other things.
-
We also watched "The Santa Clause", but the kids intermittently found other things that caught their attention (example: my newly working laptop has a default screensaver that #GS3 finds fascinating because of things like swirls of various colors moving across the screen; he wandered into the guest room, saw the screensaver, and ran over to grab my hand and pull me into my room to see).

Since Grandpa is leaving in a few days, we went to buy the Christmas tree today. I've seen video of previous years, and #GS3 is always excitedly running around and pointing at small trees. Today, he was a lot less active, and #GS4 was laggy. (The 1.5 year old had fallen asleep on the way over there, and was still not fully awake by the time we'd found the tree, cut it down, and dragged it over to pay for it.)

#GS3 wanted a map, so now he has one. We can show him where "wurricanes" are. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/288553

I let #GS3 stay up late, so he could see his daddy before bed. (Work schedules are really screwy right now; he's working one full-time job and two part-time jobs.) #sonTwo put him to bed about 45 minutes past his normal bedtime.
#GS4's bedtime is earlier, but he wound up going to bed more than an hour late. Both boys (ages 3.5 and 1.5 years) were crying for 30-45 minutes, trying to fight sleep.
I'm going to miss these little guys, even though I'm looking forward to a rest.

#GS3 (age 3.5) built a viking ship after we watched a movie "How to Train Your Dragon".
I attached two long pieces with a smaller piece when he got stuck, which got him back on track. The rest is his own work. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/288509

My 3.5 year old grandson #GS3 came running out of his room this morning to tell me that he wants to go on the plane with me to California when I leave.
The other grandparents were supposed to come and spend some time here as well, but one of their parents is reaching the end of his life and they're trying to spend some time with him before that happens. (And also, he left no instructions for what to do when he's not mentally able to decide for himself whether to continue or remove life support.)

Today, #GS3 (age 3.5) came running in to wake me up and to ask if he could go with me on the plane to California.
This has been a tremendous trip. It turned out to be nothing like the early plans (eleven weeks in SW #MO instead of two weeks in #SW_MO plus 1 week each in #KCMO and #Omaha #NE), but this has been a needed bonding time with the youngest set of grandkids.

I watched the launch live, then went to bed. This morning, I played launch video for my grandson. I explained that Artemis is supposed to lead to people going to the moon. #GS3 then started talking about becoming an astronaut.
