The trip isn't for sure yet, but I'm working on it. I've given #sonTwo a couple of hints, but I have not directly stated that I'm visiting.
As I said before, I looked at getting a rental car (two days' drive time each direction, assuming I drive at least 12 hours per day), taking Greyhound, taking Amtrak. I think the single travel day in each direction will swing my decision. (If I had indefinite time to travel, I'd be greatly in favor of driving; since I don't have that, I'm opting for arriving in one day, and not exhausted.
I have to find a book and a toy to bring with me, so I can present them to #GS3.

Not wanting to get on a crowded plane, but neither do I want to drive 26 hours each direction. Trying to visit #GS3 next month, so I need to not be any more sleep deprived than necessary. The grandchild will make sure that I cannot sleep until his bedtime (in theory, 19:00, but often as late as 21:00) or sleep in later than his waketime (07:00).
Might have to look at Amtrak or Greyhound.

#GS3 discovered the Etch-A-Sketch.
It looks like he's an "art child", like his cousin #GD2.

Oldest and youngest aren’t answering. I know the middle son is at work (though he’s possibly changing shifts, with the result that he’ll be off on weekends).

As expected, they brought the new baby dog-dog home. The existing granddoggy was not sure how to feel about it. But having survived a baby, I think a new puppy will be survivable.
This puppy looks to have a large breed in its ancestry. When the human child ( #GS3 is about 1 1/2 years old ) and the dog-dog child sit next to each other, they're almost the same height.
My daughter-in-law quit her job (health reasons; but also, there was a change of ownership and the new people running things wanted to save on employee salaries either by reducing pay or by chasing people away and hiring lower-paid people in their places), so #sonTwo has to keep his part-time 2nd job and hope for more hours.

#GS3 got to meet a new baby dog-dog (a puppy) today. He was happy. He hugged it and called it “baby” over and over. I think they’re going to bring that one home with them. My #Granddoggy should enjoy having a puppy around.
Once they finish checking the fence for gaps and weak spots, that means the dogs will be able to play outside without supervision.

Bought alphabet letters and a board with holes for the letters. Package says 2+, so I told #sonTwo and his wife to look it over before deciding whether to give it to #GS3 or wait a few months.

Sent #sonTwo the book "Starting an Online Business for Dummies all-in-one". #GS3 saw a book come out of a shipping box and decided it was for him.

I missed having our weekly #videochat with #sonOne and #GD1 and #GD2 again, but I did get about fifteen minutes with #GS3.
He showed me his toy truck and said “trunk”, but would not repeat it.
Then he called me “Dadda”, just like he calls both of his parents.
He learned to ask “What is that?”, but he did not say it during our call.

One of the things that I want to do with #GS3 is learn a second language together while he’s young enough that I’m the only one that would struggle. Maybe even learn *two* “second” languages.

#GS3 was grouchy again today, but he got better when he saw grandpa. We talked while he used a crayon to color on furniture. Well, I talked. He said "dadadadadaaada".
He discovered that his toy truck has a digging arm, so now he uses it to try and fling things across the room.

Not to be left out, my baby boy (the one year old in #MO) attempted to fix a chair today. He grabbed his electronic baby thermometer and stuck the tip into a screw hole and tried to turn it. #GS3 thinks he's Mr FixIt now.
Oh, and he made his "I did something cute" face when his mom took a photo to send to me.

I was just informed that #GS3 (almost 1.5 years old) learned to throw a ball this week. Prior to this, he played fetch the same way the granddoggy played. You would throw the ball, he would go and get it, then bring it back and put it in your hand.
#Milestones

My weight has been up for about two or three months, but in the last few days, it is slightly lower (in US pounds) than 1/10 of the number of the year I was born. Hoping it keeps going in that direction for a while.
For the first twenty-five years after high school graduation, my weight mostly stayed within ten pounds of my graduation weight.
Why this is important:
1—I feel better physically when my weight is lower
2—All three sons are now obese, and I want to lead the way to them getting their own weight issues under control. (I know the disorder of home life while they were growing up, with me working F/T [and often adding a second job] and attending classes F/T and still being dependent on food banks and friends’ generosity is part of why each one eats more when they are under stress.)
3—I want to stay around for my grandkids, particularly #GS3.
4—It takes fewer calories (less food!) to maintain one’s weight when one weighs less, all other things being equal.
5—Summer temperatures are less botheracious (and Winter temperatures are more botheracious) when one’s weight is lower.
6—Annual check-ups. I’m not wanting to have the doc say “you’re getting a little pudgy, would you like to sign up for a weight management program?”
7—Conservation of mass & energy. There’s a rule that new mass & energy are not created, just converted from one to the other. So if I lose some excess mass, I should gain some energy.

Daughter-in-law sent a side view photo of #sonTwo and #GS3. The main differences are their ears and that one has a beard. Otherwise, they look as alike as two of the same model of car.

My daughter-in-law says #GS3 is getting along well with her parents, but they are really surprised at how much energy he has. (They raised 4 girls and 1 boy.)
Also, the truck I sent is a big hit!

Yes, they are there. I got video of #GS3 playing with his new truck, with the other grandpa in the background. The child slipped on some books (also in the shipment) and rolled the truck. I know he’s only 1, but I want to talk to him about his driving.

#GS3 (about 1 year, 4 months) is "helping" again. He found the broom and is sweeping.

I promised #GS3 that I would send him a surprise, so I bought him a toy truck. It is stamped "1+ year". That's "lorry" if you're from the UK or its nearby islands.

Today is "update the $EMPLOYER laptop day". I'll start shortly. But first, I'm watching a video of #GS3 reading Jimmy Fallon's Dada book. He also has the Mama book.

He's actually saying Dada as the read the book, so maybe "your child's first word will be Dada" can happen.
