45 minutes long and late-ish #videochat with #GS3. We got to talk about a couple of planned visits ... and the “Horton Hears A Who” book I bought for him.
He’s tall enough to reach the top of the mini server rack as well as the stove. He babbled at me off and on for the entire chat. He waved goodbye to me at the end. Of course, he wandered off a couple of times.
He wants a remote control for the little air conditioning unit. It is too high up on the wall, so he cannot turn it on when he feels too warm. He’s too tall for clothes that fit his width, so everything he wears is loose enough to fall.

The city's #Independence_Day #fireworks show was unimpressive because there were at least three other directions with equal or better fireworks. The muni show also lacked pacing, so there would be 3-4 in rapid succession, then a longish delay before the next little batch. I gave up on it and went back inside. The finale sounded impressive, but it was over before I got back outside to try to see it.
But it was a good reminder:
"And the rockets' red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there"
In other news, #Daddy_A sent me a little video of his neighborhood's fireworks. It sounded like two SWAT teams playing "full contact" capture the flag. #SonTwo said his area is also "crazy" with fireworks, but he was hoping everyone burned through their supplies quickly, so that #GS3 could get to sleep at a reasonable time.

#sonTwo tells me that #GS3 is playing with the granddoggy's new ball more than she is. I guess he like hers better than the ball I sent for him.

Tonight's good night call with #GS3 was the first in a while. Apparently, he was up extra late last night, so he's still overtired today.

#GS3 has discovered that his mom freaks out when he puts dirty socks in his mouth. Guess what his new favorite thing is ... yep. It's even worth the emergency tooth brushing that follows.

Independence Day (2020-07-04; July 4) plans: backyard barbecue, watch the portion of the municipal fireworks show that is visible from the yard, possible #videochat with #GS3 or #GD2.

Watching another #Nim conf video. Then I'm going to text S and go to bed. Missed my good night #videochat with #GS3.

Showed my sister and nephew #GS3's artwork. #lazyNephew tried to make a joke about scribbling. Not funny.

#sonTwo and his wife went on a hike today. They took #GS3, who rode most of the way in an on-back carrier that my son wore. Still, by the end of the trip, he was sleeping.

I got a separate card from #GS3 (at age 1, I know he didn’t initiate it, but I appreciate it anyway) “signed” with his scribble. They also included one of his artworks ... when he draws something, he’s as proud as can be ... and though it may be an abstract scribble, he pours a lot of effort into them.
His cousin ( #GD2 ) is the art child, but she started in just this way (albeit I think she took up art around age 2, so he’s starting earlier).

I used to watch the original Power Rangers and Power Rangers Turbo with #sonTwo and his friends. I got to see some episodes of Power Rangers in Space with my nephews. I'd like to sit down with #GS3 and #Little_Boy_A / #Little_Boy_A2 / #Little_Girl_A3 and binge watch the first few seasons ... if they can watch without karate chopping one another.

One of the things in the box I shipped to #sonTwo was a #Batman coloring book for #GS3. He's going to wind up thinking that Grandpa likes Batman, but it is just a coincidence that I've sent a couple of Batman shirts and a Batman coloring book.

#GS3 received his books and shirts today. When #sonTwo got home, the floor had books scattered all over it.

Forgot that I was going to call airlines and car rental companies today about my miles and points. Before they all expire, I would like to (if I can) either trade them all for Amazon credit or take a trip to visit #GS3.

#coin_laundry day. Also shipped a package to #sonOne ( for #GD1 and #GD2 ) and one to #sonTwo ( for #GS3 and my granddoggy ). I may ship to #Daddy_A on Thursday.

My granddoggy's ball is in the bag of stuff to be shipped tomorrow. #GS3 may like it also. It is orange and black, with two or three different textures (and he's really into textures, like his dad).

Got a new picture of #GS3. Eating breakfast. Wearing his Batman logo shirt. Reminds me of his uncle ( #sonOne ) ... around age 12-14, his favorite shirt had a bat logo and the words "Bat Attitude" on it.

I got #GS3 a set of three ‘pre-K’ workbooks: math, reading, writing.
He’s one (15 months), so it will be two or three years before he’s ready for them.

Talked with #sonTwo, his wife, and #GS3 tonight. I need to go visit. Right now, I think my grandson thinks I only exist on screens.
I mean I need to visit before the tentative holiday plans, so that they'll be more "welcome back" than "what are you doing outside Daddy's cellphone".
