In a #MSTeams meeting for $EMPLOYER's #TechTeam.
They're grumbling about understaffing, but they refuse to fund and utilize their field workforce better.
I spoke up in the chat to tell them that they already have people with server management, cloud, programming, scripting, Linux, Windows server training & experience ... that they should use them.
It probably won't be long now.

@clacke I assume that the company has a tradition of allowing employees to speak freely. I certainly would not use $EMPLOYER's #MSTeams system to criticize upper management. I have plenty to say about them, but I don't say it in *their own forum* or in a way that that can be trivially linked to a specific employee.
Maybe #Twitter's employees never knew how good they had it until it all changed. Now that they have the ultimate pointy haired boss, they are subjected to the kind of things that restaurant / retail / warehouse workers had all along.

It looks like today is a day of uninstalling and reinstalling #MSTeams … there was a two day partial outage that affected the desktop client … and for many users, it hangs on the splash screen. That includes my laptop.

I've also been turning off the auto-start. Yes, many organizations use #MSTeams and similar applications a lot. That does not mean that the programs need to launch as soon as someone logs in.

S called last night to ask about a meeting (via Teams) that we were both supposed to be in. My laptop was in the meeting, but I was busy with customers during most of the actual content. I got back in time to catch part of the Q&A at the end.
She'd had an issue (the same one that some of my customers were dealing with) where a partial update installs in #MSTeams, leaving them with a "loading ..." splash screen that doesn't go away. I suspect that it probably would eventually finish updating and load the application, but people notice Teams isn't working when they're about to join a meeting and they don't have an hour to wait. Following the shortcut to find out where it points leads to Update.exe.
Solution has been to find O365 update in the software center, then install it, followed by 'Teams Installer' and install it. After a reboot, it works.

The more I use #MSTeams, the less I like it. Today, a Teams meeting with hundreds of people and the software does not know to silence and hide notifications.
Ding. Ding. Ding.

I’ve really enjoyed using #MSTeams at work. It is quite a bit better for what we do than the previous “Skype for Business” and Lync clients. However, “this”:{https://nu.federati.net/url/281281} suggests that its usefulness will rapidly diminish until Teams is no longer useful.
I don’t really get how or why they missed this. This is a basic function.

I saw this mentioned, but I knew nothing of it. DDG found it for me. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/laurenstrapagiel/potato-boss-video-call [www buzzfeednews com]

About to go into a #MSTeams “listening session” meeting, where someone will speak about $EMPLOYER’s plan for getting the #COVID-19 vaccine to employees.
This is going to be my first meeting using this system.
