TS Barry’s wind and rain starting to move onshore. Still moving very slowly. Lots of rain for the next few days. Still listed as a #TropStorm at 65MPH windspeed on the #NOAA / #NHC site.
-
#TS_Barry forms near Louisiana. Expect a long bath in #TX, #MS, #LA, because #NOAA / #NHC said the storm is only moving around 5MPH.

"near-continuous emergency alerts" -- https://mastodon.social/@gamehawk/102322477412943170
I know what Karen means. I received over 150 alerts (mostly for river flooding in #KS and #MO) yesterday alone. They aren't always at this pace, but I don't think there has been a day since January without at least one river flooding alert. I've stopped forwarding the info to the kids because it is just too much.
I honestly think #NOAA / #NWS and other alerting authorities need to sit down and figure out a way to reduce and consolidate and simplify the alerts, so that alert fatigue is less of an issue.
-
#NOAA / #NWS is sending out flash flood warnings for some areas of #MO, including parts of mid-Missouri (Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, and about 40 miles of I-70 heading toward St Louis). This is just as they've finally slowed down on the river flooding notices.
-
#NOAA / #NWS / #SPC issuing a #tornado watch 363 for eastern #IN, northern #KY, western #OH until 02:00AM EDT
A few tornadoes possible, along with straight line winds to 70MPH and hail up to 1.5 inches diameter.

#NOAA / #NWS alert for Sacramento and other #NorCal Sacramento Valley areas. Temperatures of 100°F to 106°F today and tomorrow; stay out of the heat and drink lots of water. @bthall
-
#NOAA / #NWS alerting that several more levees have failed in Howard County, #Missouri. Areas near Franklin / New Franklin / Rocheport #MO should prepare for flash floods.
-
I also saw something this morning about additional levee failures in North Little Rock, #AR, and West Quincy, #MO. But those are outside of my #NOAA / #NWS alerting zone, so what I received was probably not timely.
-
#NOAA / #NWS alert: Flash flood warning for Howard County in central #MO. At 14:20 CDT, a levee failed near Hwy Z and Hwy 87. Affected: Franklin, New Franklin, Rocheport. Although #I-70 is not mentioned, it does pass near this area. Also not mentioned is the Katy Trail, but it is mostly adjacent to the River in that area, so it goes without saying that it may be dangerous. If you’re in Mid #Missouri, be prepared to move to higher ground.
-
And now heading for KCK. This one is big. #NOAA #NWS declared a tornado emergency for Lawrence / Eudora / Kansas City #KS.

#NOAA / #NWS alerting for tornadoes in #KS.
.
It's just a watch, but it goes from just N and E of Salina (Daline County) to cities of Topeka, Lawrence, Ottawa just W of Kansas City.
-
#NOAA / #NWS continues to send alerts about #flooding and flash flooding in parts of #KS and #MO. About 100 alerts in the past thirty-six hours. If you’re in the center of the country, avoid streams and rivers and any low spots.
NOTE: some areas along rivers have remained in flood stage almost continually since early this year.

Flash flood emergency in #Wichita, #KS and nearby communities and along #I-35.

@rick777 @geniusmusing Based on the #NOAA / #NHC forecast, it should not get strong enough to become a hurricane.
