deadsuperhero (sean)'s status on Wednesday, 22-Jan-2020 19:35:15 UTC deadsuperhero Still trying to figure out what to do with the #Pterotype situation on WeDistribute. The plugin is pretty much abandoned with nobody maintaining a repo.
One option would be to attempt to migrate to the other plugin, but it seems like it would be a delicate process with some unclear instructions. I guess I'd just replicate the contents of certain tables and rows from other tables and rows, rearranging things to fit a particular schema for the opposite plugin?
I have no idea, but I'm kind of pissed that this is the way things went for that plugin. -
deadsuperhero (sean)'s status on Wednesday, 22-Jan-2020 05:53:55 UTC deadsuperhero @hypolite @heluecht @xavavu no, sadly it's #Pterotype, which is no longer in development. :sad_lemon:
I'm trying to figure out what the path forward is. Theoretically, we could fork the origin and move development to Feneas to give the project some kind of upstream, or we can try to find some way to migrate data to the other plugin. -
deadsuperhero (sean)'s status on Monday, 02-Dec-2019 19:46:18 UTC deadsuperhero Opened up an issue about the possibility of migrating from #Pterotype to the wordpress-activitypub plugin
https://github.com/pfefferle/wordpress-activitypub/issues/75
Doesn't seem like this kind of data migration (eg, moving data from one plugin to another) is really talked about all that much. Might have to write some bullshit experimental plugin to perform the act? Or just manually move stuff around in the DB?
This might be painful. :sad_lemon: -
INACTIVE (deadsuperhero)'s status on Tuesday, 04-Dec-2018 19:24:44 UTC INACTIVE Hey @jdormit , If I disable #Pterotype on my staging server, what happens to the actor on Mastodon's end? Does it disappear, or will it be cached for a while?

Jeremy (jdormit)'s status on Friday, 23-Nov-2018 13:32:12 UTC Jeremy Still no documentation and not anywhere close to done, but my #ActivityPub #PHP library is open source at https://github.com/pterotype-project/activitypub-php.
My goal is to provide a well-tested, flexible library that handles the complicated parts of ActivityPub (JSON-LD, persistence, addressing, etc.) in a way that can be plugged into an existing PHP codebase with no hassle. That'll help me refactor #Pterotype, and will also make it easy for other developers to make developers to make plugins for Joomla, Drupal, etc.

INACTIVE (deadsuperhero)'s status on Friday, 09-Nov-2018 19:09:42 UTC INACTIVE Given all the progress @jdormit has made with #Pterotype, I'm confident that #WeDistribute will be ready for an official launch "very soon".
There's a bunch of CSS/template stuff that I have to clean up; I want to make my site mobile-friendly and all that. But federation works today, and once Mastodon properly adopts some kind of support for the Article activity, it'll look good on this end.

INACTIVE (deadsuperhero)'s status on Monday, 29-Oct-2018 21:50:30 UTC INACTIVE Can somebody gut-check this piece of feedback that I gave for #pterotype (a WP #ActivityPub integration)?
https://github.com/jdormit/pterotype/issues/2
I think the logic is mostly sound, but I don't actually know how such a fallback would actually work (or if it would actually work)

INACTIVE (deadsuperhero)'s status on Monday, 22-Oct-2018 20:36:35 UTC INACTIVE @luka yes, this criteria is exactly why I'm considering WordPress as a solution. There are two plugins in development, the one I'm testing out is called #Pterotype
As an aside, this also gives me a chance to restructure the content into something that platforms other than Medium can make use of.

Jeremy (jdormit)'s status on Thursday, 18-Oct-2018 22:55:43 UTC Jeremy Current #Pterotype roadmap:
1. Iron out federation kinks - make sure posts are displayed properly, searchable from the Mastodon search bar, etc.
2. Make the Actor name configurable so not everyone's blog is called @blog ?
3. Write a blog post? Something about content creation and business and how to not be shitty internet citizen, which has been influencing how I think about Pterotype and ActivityPub
4. Onboard beta users and get feedback
5. Synchronize WordPress comments with Mastodon replies
