!SoCal #NOAA / #NWS issued a wind advisory for the mountains of #San_Bernardino, #Riverside, and #San_Diego County mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass, and some areas of the deserts. West winds 25-35MPH, with gusts to 55MPH until around 16:00 PST. Expect low visibility due to windblown dust and sand
If you're here in #SoCal, be aware. (Nothing mentioned about Los Angeles, Orange, or Ventura counties, so they could have a similar alert that I just haven't seen.

#NOAA / #NWS Fire weather and Red flag warning for the following !SoCal areas:
#San_Bernardino and #Riverside Counties ( #Inland_Empire ) mountains, valleys, canyons, passes
#Orange County inland areas
#San_Diego County mountains and inland valleys

From 2020-12-07 04:00 PST to 2020-12-08 22:00. NE winds from 20-30MPH, with gusts to 40MPH (and up to 50MPH in/below certain passes and canyons). Relative humidity 10-20%. Outdoor burning not recommended, as fires will spread rapidly.

The wind events seem to be mild. #NOAA / #NWS is tagging them as Santa Anas, and they are coming from the Northeast and coldish on this side of the mountains, but they aren't the 70MPH winds I expect when I hear about Santa Ana winds.
Still, there's a fire weather warning for !SoCal areas in #San_Bernardino and #Riverside and #Orange and #San_Diego counties from the mountains to the beaches. Winds expected to be 20-30MPH with gusts to 40MPH and higher speeds in the foothills; humidity 10 to 20 percent.
Outdoor burning not recommended, as any brush fires will spread rapidly.

#NOAA / #NWS alert: Fire weather watch for #SoCal: #San_Bernardino, #Riverside, #Orange counties ... mountains and passes. Strong winds, low humidities. In effect from Thursday (Thanksgiving) 2020-11-26 afternoon through Friday evening 2020-11-27.
Northeast winds 20-30MPH, with gusts 50-60MPH, isolated gusts to 65MPH. Humidity falling rapidly to less that 15%.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing flash flood watch in !SoCal's #San_Bernardino and #Riverside counties ... areas near the Apple Fire and El Dorado Fire burn scars, including San Gorgonio Pass and Banning.
Locally heavy rains could result in debris flows in and below the burned areas. Normally dry riverbeds and culverts may be overwhelmed with water, mud, rocks, and other debris. Dangerous flash flooding possible.
"Stay away or be swept away."

#NOAA / #NWS has issued a follow-up on that Winter storm advisory. A Winter storm warning is issued for the mountains of #San_Bernardino and #Riverside counties between 2020-11-07 03:00 PST and 2020-11-08 18:00 PST. Heavy snow, enough to break branches off of trees. Reduced visibility. They don't mention the wind, but today has already been an enhanced wind conditions day. If you must travel in those areas, carry food, water, and a flashlight. (Unsaid: dress warmly.)

Fun facts about !SoCal:
(1) #Orange County is traditionally a Republican dominated area, occasionally referred to as "behind the Orange Curtain". #Riverside and #San_Bernardino counties are also Republican, except for areas in and near the City of San Bernardino itself.
(2) In #Los_Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles, there is some jealousy and rivalry between the San Fernando Valley and the San Gabriel Valley. SFV is mostly part of L.A City, and got to keep the 818 area code during the 626 split, while SGV did not. SFV's distincive speech patterns ("ValSpeak") were also featured and mocked in "Valley Girl", which caused people all over the country to copy it. SGV's more Hispanic oriented speech patterns are not on anyone's clone list.

Uh oh. #NOAA / #NWS is sending Red Flag warnings for much of #KS and #MO, including the Kansas City and Saint Louis areas. Also affecting portions of SW #IL. Strong winds and low relative humidity mean that any fires will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
And also Red Flag warnings for portions of #San_Bernardino and #Riverside Counties in #SoCal. Gusty winds and low relative humidity in and below the coast-facing slopes of the San Bernardino, San Gorgonio, and Santa Ana mountain ranges, coastal foothills, and nearby valleys mean that any fires will spread rapidly.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing #fire_weather alert (watch) for portions of !SoCal's #San_Bernardino and #Riverside and #San_Diego Counties, as "strong gusty winds and low humidity" are expected in mountains and valleys. Includes some #Low_Desert areas, but no #High_Desert areas. Yucaipa, home to two large fires this Summer, is included in the danger area.
The alert does not cover #Orange or #Los_Angeles counties, but that may be a function of which office issued the bulletin.
If you're in Southern California, please be careful not to do things which could cause another catastrophic fire. There was a town in NorCal (Paradise) that no one had ever heard of until nearly the entire town burned down and many residents were killed in a fire a couple of years ago. We don't want other municipalities to relive their experience.
