#NOAA / #NWS alerting to flooding in !SoCal: portions of #San_Bernardino, #Riverside, #Orange counties with urban and small stream flooding affecting low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water on roadways, mud and rocks over mountain highways. #Inland_Empire people should be alert.

Last night, from about 22:00 to 01:00, there were sporadic bursts of gunfire. It was raining in intermittent spurts, and the wind was boisterous.
In the #Los_Angeles metro, there were several water rescues, as flooding occurred. This includes one family whose off-road vehicle got stuck in flooded Lytle Creek after five inches of rain fell.

Two of the four local (to my area of !SoCal) news sources actually have positive stories this week and last, along with the usual car crashes, burglaries, robberies, and murders. One would think this is the part of #Los_Angeles that used to be known as "South Central", instead of a desert area 100 miles away.
One source is paywalled, so I rarely visit it. The fourth source is moribund, posting batches of 3-4 articles over few months.

Now, the messaging I've seen from #NOAA / #NWS doesn't say *which* passes, so I'd expect Tejon, Cajon, and San Gorgonio passes to see snowfall. No idea about Mountain Pass. Either way, it means that major routes into and out of #SoCal could be affected.

Pacific storm expected to impact !SoCal beginning tonight, including the #Inland_Empire. Portions of #I-15, #I-215, #I-10, #I-8 expected to be affected by snow. Mountains and passes could see up to 6 inches of snow. Gusty winds, with some places seeing up to 60MPH winds. Heavy rainfall in some areas, so expect urban flooding as well as debris flows & mudslides in burn scar areas.

The pre-teen probably saved his own life by making that phone call. If not because his dad's erratic behavior could have resulted in a crash, then because the dad might have taken the child's life and his own. And lastly because it wasn't too long ago that a #SoCal police department shot and killed a teenage girl who'd been taken by her own father (the father was also killed).

Time to go to bed. I just had a minute or two micro-sleep, including a dream that I was still in #SW_MO, with a flight to #SoCal tomorrow.
-
Back in #SoCal. #faveNephew brought me "home" from the #hairport.
Also, since when did #TSA need to use my key to open my luggage. My lock is TSA compliant, and has been opened by them many times over the years.
-
We're celebrating #Thanksgiving early in #SW_MO because I will be back in #SoCal when the official day happens.
-
I booked my flight from #SW_MO back to #SoCal. I'm going to be sad to leave these guys, but I need time to take care of some things and I need to do them from there, not here.
-
Today is the last day of my preapproved leave. That means $EMPLOYER could call as early as tomorrow to send me on an assignment.
I love these little munchkins, but I also have to prepare for `job.next()` and i have not been able to do much while chasing after mess monsters all day. I have not yet booked my flight back to #SoCal because frankly, Iād rather be in #SWMO anyway and because of the possibility of $EMPLOYER flying me somewhere else.

And in #SoCal, despite not specifically planting this year, there were:
Tomatoes š
;
Peppers š« š¶ ;
Okra;
Apples š š ;
Strawberries š;
Blackberries;
And some mystery bean family members ā¦ along with mystery cabbage family members (there were multiple varieties in somewhat adjacent areas)

In response to the lack of affordable options in the local area of #SoCal, the landlords have agreed to extend the move out date to some undefined future (possibly in Spring). We should still make every effort to move, but I know that mom is going to resist making the sort of changes necessary.
I'm trying to get that sorted BEFORE I officially move here to #SW_MO. I have some other stuff that needs to get sorted as well, but with everything I own being in storage, that's likely to happen AFTER I've moved and have access to my stuff.

Teams message from work colleague: I hope you and your family were not affected by flooding in $CITY.
I contacted a relative who lives in that part of !SoCal to ask. I knew there were random flooded areas across #San_Bernardino and #Riverside Counties.
Relative: much of the city had flooding Sunday, but not today or yesterday.

Watching the #SoCal #Anaheim / #Los_Angeles #Angels versus the #Houston #Astros. Score 3 to 9; bottom/7th.
-
Watching the !MLB !Baseball #Los_Angeles #Dodgers playing the #San_Diego #Padres in SD.
Whenever the Dodgers play either !SoCal competitor ( the #Angels or the Padres ), it is like when your Little League team plays your brother's team. You always want your team to win, but whenever the other family team plays a different team, you want the family team to win.

There is a wildfire some distance upwind. The smoke has not been visible today, but the unmistakeable smell is there any time I go outdoors.
None of the ones seen online seem to be in the right direction, so I'm not sure where it is from.

#Riverside County sheriff deputies raid elderly couple's homes without a warrant. Reason: solar panels reduced power use, so deputies suspected an illegal marijuana growing operation. https://nu.federati.net/url/287518 [witnessla com]

Got some "liquid death" mountain water. Their slogan is "murder your thirst".
My reaction: it isn't tasty. It must not have the right mix of minerals gained by tumbling over waterfalls and percolating through layers of rock.
So besides having a stupid name and marketing slogan, the water itself does not have the flavor that is found in Fiji (my favorite) or even Arrowhead (a #SoCal favorite), despite being bottled in #Austria in the Alps.
3/10. Would not buy it again. Would drink it if someone offered it and no better choices were present.
