DAW books is currently accepting unsolicited science fiction and fantasy submissions. They want novels only right now.
I just posted up Episode 03 of "Voice From The Void" to my Patreon peeps.
This time, it's all about starjump! Half-an-hour of pure hokum!
LnB's AUDIO DIARY
"Dead To Me"
Still sick and deaf; possible doctor visit; self-medicating; truck full of wagon wheels; replacement restaurant; speeding; my day is shot; still dealing with wallet loss; HPR; "Voice From The Void"; and more, in this update!

"Duet" is done!
Uploading to the server now. Two and a half months of sweating, fretting, and (occasional) work.
It'll be in the next newsletter, which will go out later this week. Sign up for that, here:

"Duet" will be the last Moses, AZ story for a while: I've too many balls in the air, right now.
THE CURRENT STATE OF LINUX VIDEO EDITING 2018
Seth Kenlon, @klaatu 's pal, has written an excellent overview article on video editors for *nix platform(s), including both FOSS and proprietary options.
The situation is rosy!
Super useful for Linux users who are or want to get into film and video.

DO WE LIVE IN A DYSTOPIA?
I'm undecided.
This has been on my mind lately, so I revisited a recent "LnB's Audio Diary", to refresh my memory about what I've considered in the past. (These things slip away, if I'm not careful.)
I'm really no closer to a personal answer.
Opinions are invited.

"CHRONICLES & COMMONS" #0x13, with Brent Newhall as guest.
I just finished listening to this episode. Excellent interview, and quite inspiring!
Brent is a funny, creative, prolific guy, with a unique vision. (And the overview of planes-walking rangers at the end of the episode is worth your time, all on its own!)

Okay, here's what I came up with (ignore quotation marks). You wanna start with a clean flac file. Stereo is fine, as we'll be converting to mono.
"opusenc --bitrate 18 --downmix-mono INPUT.flac OUTPUT.opus"
The bitrate can be even lower if you want. I went down to 14. Each step down saves a lot of space, but degrades sound quality.
"ffmpeg -i INPUT.opus -r 1 -loop 1 -i INPUT.jpg -c:v libvpx -tune stillimage -shortest -y -c:a copy OUTPUT.webm"
MOTHERLOAD
Stardrifter Book 01
Chapter 01
A 3-Part SciFi Novella
The gunboat "Dame Minnie" is falling apart at the seams. Bad pay, an idiot captain, and rapidly-failing equipment. Things can't get worse. Right?
Audio quality is due to the Masto file size limit. Listen/download to a better version (still free) on my site:

I had a lot of fun last night playing D&D for HPR. Thanks be to @klaatu for a great game!

Thursday is one of those fly-over days that you nonetheless have to drive through.
SWITCH: Oil isn't free.
@srol I would advise people to follow anyone who seems interesting, whether you know them -- or even know of them -- or not. I've found some amazing people here, simply through one of their off-hand random posts. Add people shamelessly and fearlessly. You can always stop following them later, if they turn out to be turnip heads.
