Remember what Stallman did ~30 years ago when proprietary software dominated, he didn't recommended abstinence he came up with a positive answer aka Free Software. We need to do the same with today's evolving technology (cloud, saas, IoT, whatever). Ignoring it will change nothing we have to get engaged and shape it in a freedom and privacy respecting way.

I think it would be also good to have a declaration, signed by all projects who agree that federation between multiple networks is important and who agree to actively work on keeping the different solutions compatible and take issues about interoperability problems serious and prioritize them. Because at the moment it is hard to tell who is part of the federation, and even more important who is part of it by accident or by commitment.

@junglestrike @vinzv @phildini @bob at this point I would even be happy to ignore the "average user" for now, if all the people and organisations who know the importance of free and decentralised systems would finally start using them instead of complaining on Twitter & Co that they are not perfect.
