Sounds like I have to try something soon:

Unix makes it again: Having a de-duplication layer as own block device allows you to do a lot of different things on top. Just keep in mind that it really slows your storage operations down.
But also good news: You can put LVM on it and LVM can handle it by using an SSD as caching layer :)
You're working on something important and need to focus? Use the fullscreen-mode of your programs (usually by pressing F11).
Now #Gnome hides usual notifications, while ones that are flagged as "critical", like a battery warning, still show up.
This helps you to focus on your work. After finishing your work you can leave the full screen mode and see all the notifications in the message tray.
Hint: You can switch between multiple windows in fullscreen-mode.
A very great talk about mistakes in #freesoftware. It's already 5 years old, but I think it's still true. The bad but even more, the good points ?
