@tindall This also highlights the question of #instance #succession, sustainability, and accountability. If you're leaning on a benevolent dictator, it works until either the dictator's energy or benevolence runs out.

As Mastodon matures, we're going to see lots more of these situations as folks who spun up instances on a whim/as a hobby burn out and decide to move on. The question will be who takes them over, or what sustainable models folx will migrate to?

My #HackerSpace is in the middle of #BTV's arts district, and, for the last three years, we've been making LED-embedded tinfoil hats as a #CheapArt fundraiser. This year I really hit my stride and probably cranked out close to 150 in a few hours.

When we counted the donations at the end of the night, there were exactly $420 in the jar... ?
