I found farside.link/invidious/watch?v⦠very helpful in understanding why Putin would risk so much to get control over all or part of Ukraine.
It was made just before the invasion and covers geographical, political and economic reasons to take at least the south of Ukraine, expanding the Donbas occupation and controlling the Dnieper river north of Crimea.

Though I think he's been in the process of digesting the country since 2014, so the only thing new about this is the acceleration.

@adcock I don't have time to answer today. I will try to respond in a few days, after the current activities (son's visit, moving to snother location) are complete.

@adcock as @clacke already answered, the factuality of the neonazi claims is not important, as they are just a pretext for something that has been planned since 2014.
I doubt those groups would have arisen anyway if Putin hadn't helped start and bolster the rebellions in predominantly Russophone areas of Ukraine.
Those groups should be dealt with, but that is separate from Russian meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs including the invasion and the plan to digest Ukraine into Russia.
