If a show has a public and open feed that you can subscribe to with gPodder, AntennaPod, Thunderbird, old Firefox versions, whatever, it's a #podcast.
If this public and open feed doesn't exist, or is kept undiscoverable so that it might as well not exist, it's not a podcast.
It really is that simple. Put a friggin #RSS or #Atom feed on there with an enclosure element, that's it, that's the definition. That's the podcast. -

Also a big thank you to my main and alt hosts over the years!
First our dear departed @encyclomundi@parlementum.net . We miss you. π₯° π₯
And then in somewhat chronological order: @Evan Prodromou @hannes2peer@quitter.se (we miss you on fedi) @Eugen Rochko @Lain bin Soykaf al Pleroma @Moon @admin de gnusocial.net
I'm still on your servers (except Hannes), just not as main!
... and the ones I'm forgetting right now ... sorry ...
Thank you for your hard work so us distracted and confused ones can be lazyweb and still have a home. You are the backbone of fedi and I owe you a beverage of your choice any time we meet in meatspace! -

There is a critical turning point when you're announcing commercial support for a community project:
"We want to offer commercial services with things like customization, hosting, sponsored development etc"
Oh cool, that'll put some momentum into this project and allow people to work on it full time!
"... so we have founded a company named the same as the project, and also we hold the domain and the trademark."
Nope, sorry, lost me, time to eject.
I'll find the exact @Simon Phipps post that tells you exactly what to do instead and why the above is bad in multiple ways. I probably mean one or both of the two community governance ratchet points posts. -

Looks like Ukraine liberated the entirety of Kharkiv Oblast. This is an area equivalent to 75% of Denmark.
And that's *one* of their successful advances this past week. -

I found farside.link/invidious/watch?v⦠very helpful in understanding why Putin would risk so much to get control over all or part of Ukraine.
It was made just before the invasion and covers geographical, political and economic reasons to take at least the south of Ukraine, expanding the Donbas occupation and controlling the Dnieper river north of Crimea.

Wooohooo, they did it! Deep respect for everyone who made this ridiculously complex mission work as planned. Looking forward to years and years of new space history, both in the sense of history being made and past history being discovered.

I would really like a good excuse to learn and use Julia. The language and the people seem comfy.
Sustain podcast 90: Julia

Who uses Julia? What is it good for? Why would you want to make non-technical contributions to a project and how do you as a project encourage it?
Who writes Julia?
What's the relation between open source and science papers?
Why shouldn't you use Slack to run your open source community?
