@lnxw48a1 I actually deal with a lot of this personally (people trying to collect fraudulent debts) which I personally find really amusing since I used to be in law enforcement and as a result threats against me from these shitheads get taken more seriously in law. At the end of the day most of these people are dime-a-dozen street thugs trying to appear reputable.
I actually feel for legitimate collection agencies when it comes to this, because they already face a lot of trouble trying to collect, and this kind of thing only encourages people into non-payment of valid debts (and the skeevy people into trying to evade debts saying 'I thought it was a scam')

@lnxw48a1 Having worked on the commercial end of a business for a while (dealing with other businesses) personal debts are usually forgiven and not collected on (unless your business is a shithead like Rogers, in which case they'll ruin your credit over a hundred bucks and often less) but I have to say a lot of businesses, especially big businesses you might not expect it from, will default on payments regularly. They basically play a game of chicken where they dare you to try to collect on them.
