Unpopular opinion: A lot of people identify as trans people who have no intention of actually transitioning gender. They want the social status that comes with that label in certain groups.

Trying to get past obligations I made sorted, programming wise, so I can sit down and properly work on !postActiv. It's not going to happen tomorrow, but it's coming. My first goal is going to be to fix the two major bugs I'm aware of: the groups iffiness, and the oembed failures. #postActiv

@purplehippo I judge the quality of a lock by the length of the lockpickinglawyer's video on it.

@o0karen0o This isn't new. I'm pretty certain I've seen reports of remote hacks on infusion pumps going back ten years or so.

@aeveltstra If you're using containers for production machines, you are doing it wrong and you deserve every security exploit you endure.

@lnxw48a1 This is how a lot of these companies are avoiding liabilities. They act as storefronts for tgird party vendors and shove responsibility to them, but it is all sold under their banner and using their name, so you dont realize theyve done that until you have a problem. NewEgg does the same thing.

@lnxw48a1 I like HP's (at least business-oriented devices) approach to this. You can buy whatever, and there are at least a couple "authorised" vendors for offbrand cartridges, even though they still recommend the genuine stuff. It doesn't force anything, but if you do use non-authorised stuff, its recorded and you void the warranty. That's fair: a company shouldn't have to support stuff that may just well ruin their machine (put oil or rubber based inks in a normal aqueuos ink printer, and you'll cripple the thing at best), but they don't remove from you the element of choosing to do so if you really want to.
No idea if their consumer-grade stuff allows that same freedom. I wouldn't bet on it.

People are pushing towards more democratic systems of governance, which on it's face seems noble, but the tyranny of the majority is a real thing and a real concern.

No, Steam, downloading Banished to while away a lazy evening is not an invitation to update literally 298 ..299 games.
