Rumor has it that since we’re unable to use the office space due to #COVID-19 infections, we may get sent home (with many of us dropping off the assignment completely).

Considering going back to stand in testing line. Although I've been mostly in my #hotel room since my #COVID-19 tests in mid-December, I noticed a slight runny nose and some coughing this morning.

From the US Census: About 42% of US unvaccinated adults don't trust the #COVID-19 vaccines. https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/12/who-are-the-adults-not-vaccinated-against-covid.html [www census gov]
Also, unvaxxed tended to be younger, less educated, less likely to be married.

Rapid antigen tests may not catch early #COVID-19 infections, even though patient is already contagious, spreading #SARS-CoV-2 particles in their breath.

> SARS-CoV-2 Induces cell death by apoptosis in neurons. A slow loss of neurons by this mechanism may be causing neurological features now been reported in Long-COVID.
This can cause enormous disabilities in long haulers (full paper below)

PCR result is in: #COVID-19 NOT DETECTED
I don't know how to interpret the sub-results, but the report does say that the sub-results add up to #SARS-CoV-2 not detected.
-
The #PCR #COVID-19 test results were due in 24-48 hours, but still have not come in. I expect it is because the lab is slammed with testing orders.

I'm in WFH mode for the rest of 2021, where the H is for 'Hotel room'. I suppose that means that #NYC's #COVID-19 outbreak has companies competing to get deep-cleaning crews into the facilities.

When I was in school, one of my brothers brought home a friend who'd had an argument with his family and been ejected. He stayed with us about four years before he was able to move back home.
That friend and his wife are now confirmed infected with #COVID-19. I don't know their current status, but I do know my brother says the friend said it kicked his rear end.

The TV in the lobby is on a news channel. As I walked past, the story was about the long lines of people trying to get #COVID-19 tests. But the be honest, I passed two testing sites and the walk-in medical clinic today and none of them had long lines. It looked like two to five people waiting at each site, with the clinic having a few patients inside, but no one waiting outside.

@lxo Because of pre-existing political views, followers of certain #pollies exaggerate the impact of #COVID-19 vaccines, while minimizing the much larger incidence of long-term cardiac, circulatory, and reproductive damage (and deaths) that the virus itself causes.
I don't like or trust any #polly enough to let their views influence my taking actions that protect myself and those whom I am close to, so I'm not going to swallow some "wing" 's talking points. It is sad to see respected independent thinkers turning off their brains and gulping down such illogic.

Explaining to #faveNephew that the line of people awaiting testing was enough that it took about two hours just to reach the table where tests were administered. I’m sure #NYC is having a surge of #COVID-19, because I’ve seen people waiting in excess of an hour outside a walk-in clinic / urgent care. Plus multiple street testing centers, all of which seem to be overloaded.
-
Nothing official yet, but 15 people from the other side of the building requested #COVID-19 tests today.
I'm expecting the building to shut down for cleaning.
-
I don’t know whether this is because of the Omicron variant of #COVID-19, but the walk-in medical clinic has had lines waiting outside for the past few days. Most days, it looks to be twelve to twenty people. There are also some sidewalk testing places. The closest one had about fifteen people waiting in line at noon. The one across the street had about five people waiting at 16:00. There were also two testing vans that used to park nearby, but I haven’t seen either in a few weeks.
TL;DR: Not data, but observation says that a lot of people are lined up waiting to take COVID-19 tests. That could indicate that the new variant is spreading quickly in #NYC. #2019-nCoV

Another #COVID-19 case in the building. Obviously, they must be finding out about these after the workday begins, as it is again two hours after start time when the announcement went out.
-
Someone from another agency was in the building on Saturday, then tested positive for #COVID-19 on Sunday. Today, after we all came in, they informed us about the infected person. I do not know how long $EMPLOYER managers knew about this. Half the office is working from "home" pending a deep cleaning crew.

> yeah, I saw articles about healthcare systems "collapsing", fairly certain that was all fake ...
You'd be wrong. #COVID-19 filled intensive care units, overflowed into the regular parts of hospitals, and in some cases, the military's medical staff had to be called in to help cope with the overload.

OTOH, there are times when bureaucrats can be inflexible when flexibility may be called for. https://nu.federati.net/url/283628 [www silive com]
High school basketball player that had a reaction to the HPV vaccine (which in my opinion, should NOT be given to boys) and his doctor recommended that he not receive #COVID-19 vaccine (side issue: it does not say whether the doc recommends he receive other vaccines, which is germane to the decision).
