#Daddy_A was talking about the #snow in #NE and he said that some spots were deeper than he is tall. I suspect he's talking about piles where snowplows and similar equipment cleared off an area and piled the removed snow in one spot.
He also said it is very cold, even for a "frozen northland" state.

#sonTwo and #Daddy_A have both been talking to their family doctors and were told to delay receiving the #COVID-19 vaccine until additional data is available from those vaccinated.
I'm not pleased that doctors are telling my boys not to get the vaccines (yet). I do realize that we have no history of mRNA vaccines, and that we only have a year of even knowing about this virus, so no long-term studies showing safety.
But both of them are heavy. One had asthma and a lung infection when he was younger.

#Daddy_A was explaining how their local laws prevent utilities from shutting off service to poor people during the cold season. I’m glad to hear that. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/279720

#Daddy_A says their vehicle is starting to have recurring issues. The repair shop keeps replacing parts of the smog-control system, thinking that will fix things, but soon after the check engine light is back on and the car stalls.
They aren't exactly J. P. Morgan level, but I still said that it is time to start looking for another car.

I posted this elsewhere this morning.
#sonTwo used to put father-son days on my calendar, so he and his younger brother #Daddy_A could get focused time.
#sonOne used to call me at work to ask "When am I going to see you again?" ... needless to say, I still think productivity is important, but give the people in your life some regular time that is not shared with work of any kind.

UPS: Severe weather impacting areas in South Dakota, Nebraska and Minnesota ...
#Daddy_A's shipment says "out for delivery" today, so hopefully, the blizzard conditions won't prevent that.
-
Several years ago, there was a car model called Echo. Whenever we'd pass one, I'd go:
ECHO! Echo. echo
Like an echo. #sonTwo would be irritated, while #Daddy_A would laugh.
-
Notice from UPS: A mechanical failure has delayed delivery.
The have no estimated time. Letting #Daddy_A know.

I ordered almost everything while I was working in Puerto Rico, but didn't get a job where I could come home every night, so the replacement never completed.
#Daddy_A, #lazyNephew, and a couple of others also got partial or complete replacements.

Good morning. It is 2021-01-09 16:50 UTC (08:50 PST). I’ve finished today’s #YoCo ( #yogurt and #coffee ) and have planned a day of relaxation.
I’m probably anticipating too strongly, but today’s schedule includes:
* phone call with #Daddy_A and #Little_Boy_A and possibly playing a game together
* videochat with brother and his wife + other family members
* #videochat with #sonTwo and #GS3
* phone call with #faveNephew
* drawing something to send to #GD1 and #GD2 ... the younger granddaughter hasn’t been sending me any of her animations recently.
-
I think they had hoped to get a larger vehicle before #GS3’s brother comes, but it doesn’t look like that will happen.
In other news, #Daddy_A reports that their vehicle is also having trouble. The mechanic said the code indicated the pollution control system, but has not yet been able to fix it. I think they also want to replace the vehicle soon.

#Daddy_A shares: We're getting a little snow today. It's been coming down since 4 this morning and hasn't slowed since it started.
His photo shows that the street is not longer distinguishable from the yards on each side of it. One solid sea of white.

Security keys (yubikeys) are starting to spread in my family. I bought one for my mom, one for each of my kids ( #sonOne, #sonTwo, #Daddy_A ), one for nephew #Papaya, one for #faveNephew. #lazyNephew is buying his own. Nephews #Honshu and #PizzaMan are waiting to see what their brother does with his.
This is a multi-year project, but interest has picked up considerably in the past month or so.

#Little_Boy_A’s birthday gift next year is a #telescope. I revealed it to #Daddy_A last night, as we discussed the great conjunction. I can’t say it is high quality, as it came from the science / learning toys section of the toy department at #Target.
A friend used to ask his nephew to help me choose gifts for my grandson. In return, if I bought my grandson the gift the nephew picked, I also bought one for the nephew. It worked well, since they’re around the same age. But now the friend doesn’t live near the nephew, so I can’t always deliver the perfect gift anymore.

Since #sonTwo’s father-in-law is trying to get them started in #cryptocurrencies, I guess I need to do some reading.
I’m sure he’s looking at the $CRYPTOCOIN value in US dollars charts and thinking of it like the stock market. However, stock markets are regulated (even though I still think they are sometimes manipulated), and cryptocurrency exchanges are not.
I told my son (again) to concentrate on coins which are actually used to buy and sell goods and services rather than being led by upward curves on charts. I know the youngest ( #Daddy_A ) isn’t doing any cryptocurrency stuff, but I should ask the oldest ( #sonOne ) whether he’s doing it. If he’s doing it and can give his brother the same advice (but from the perspective of having done it), then it is more likely to be followed.
I should probably try to buy some cryptocurrency on “LocalBitcoins”:{https://localbitcoins.com/}, so I’ll have some skin in the game. That way, my conversations about the topic will be from the standpoint of someone who has some risk of losing money.

#Daddy_A and I discussed "Cyberpunk 2077". I mentioned my observation that people are talking about the detailed character design portion more than they are about actual gameplay.
He got the PC version, and says it has been problem-free, but that he's heard people saying the XBOne and PS4 versions are crashy, but the versions for the newer consoles work okay.
-
I thought #Daddy_A and I might have our #videochat tonight, but it is already time to start getting the kids ready for bed.
-
#Daddy_A hinted that if I'm ready to do so, I can move to #NE, sleep on their couch, and seek a local job. I told him plainly that I already have such an offer from #sonTwo, but that not causing them any stress is important.
-
Okay, looks like #Daddy_A will attempt to schedule a #videochat session for this week. Because they don’t see me often, the grandkids wait before they come up to greet me. We’re trying to make it so that the next time I see them in person, #Little_Boy_A, #Little_Boy_A2, and #Little_Girl_A3 are all comfortable enough to come right up.
At our most recent meeting (Summer of 2020) we were together around one hour, and A2 never did relax enough to come over.
-
Well, #Daddy_A and I spent yesterday and today trying to get together for a #videochat, but it didn’t happen.
#sonOne is still on the 16 hours, 6 days per week schedule, so that one didn’t happen either.
#sonTwo and I talked for about an hour during that one.
