HOME RUN.
#Daddy_A sent a photo of the happiest little girl I've ever seen in my life. #Little_Girl_A3 received her two baby dolls for her 3rd birthday. I think that's easily the best $20 I ever spent.
I'm told that #Little_Boy_A2 was also happy with his birthday gift, but no photo was sent.

I don't know whether #Daddy_A is going to hold onto the toys until the kids' birthdays, but the toys for #Little_Boy_A2 and #Little_Girl_A3 arrived today.

#Daddy_A lived in #AZ for a year or two. When I told him how hot it is today, he immediately told me how glad he is to have left #SoCal and #Arizona to move to #NE ( #Nebraska gets both hot and humid, but not as hot as AZ or as humid as #Mississippi ).

Sent #sonTwo, #Daddy_A, and my friends Mark and S each a photo of the outside and inside of #GD1's birthday card. Mark just called back to ask me if I knew what I bought.
Yes. She'll be 13. That's probably the tamest card she'll get.

Forgot what it is like to not feel hot at midday. Spent a couple of hours with #Daddy_A and the family at the outdoor seating of a food place.
The kids don't see me enough, even by video. The middle child ( #Little_Boy_A2, almost 4 ) made sure to stay outside of hugging range, but the other kids ( #Little_Boy_A, age 7; and #Little_Girl_A3, almost 3 ) got some hugs.
We talked about upcoming birthday gifts, A2's toy airplane and upcoming preschool, A's upcoming school year, and A3's expanding vocabulary.

Going to see my baby boy ( #Little_Boy_A ) and his dad ( #Daddy_A ) and the rest of the family today. (This is the 7 year old from #NE, not the 1 year old from #MO.)

I’m trying to think how long it has been since I’ve seen #Daddy_A in person. Once, for about four hours, three years ago. Before that, maybe another 2-3 years (that time was about an hour), and before that maybe a year?
So the last time I saw them regularly was before they moved away (first to #AZ, then to #NE).

Sort of craving a burger. Tempted to walk about a mile and grab either the Beyond Beef Famous Star burger or the Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger. I can consider it reconnaissance for tomorrow or the next day, when I get to see #Daddy_A and family.
It is 98F / 37C outside, so I need to ask myself if I want it enough to go out in that heat.

Missed Wire call time for #sonOne because I was en route to the meeting place for #Daddy_A.
-
#Daddy_A: I know this is short notice, but we're in town to visit my sister-in-law. If you want to meet up, head over to Target.
Me: I'm on my way.

@mangeurdenuage How tall are you? #Daddy_A is about 6 feet, 5 inches, or close to 2 meters. He won't share his weight, but 275 pounds (125 kg) would not surprise me.

I remember when #sonTwo and #Daddy_A decided that my Shrek character was the donkey ... claiming that I was as annoying as him.
-
Communicating with #Daddy_A and trying to let him see how much I enjoy his niece’s daily drawing picture without pressuring him to make his kids send me something regularly.

The city's #Independence_Day #fireworks show was unimpressive because there were at least three other directions with equal or better fireworks. The muni show also lacked pacing, so there would be 3-4 in rapid succession, then a longish delay before the next little batch. I gave up on it and went back inside. The finale sounded impressive, but it was over before I got back outside to try to see it.
But it was a good reminder:
"And the rockets' red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there"
In other news, #Daddy_A sent me a little video of his neighborhood's fireworks. It sounded like two SWAT teams playing "full contact" capture the flag. #SonTwo said his area is also "crazy" with fireworks, but he was hoping everyone burned through their supplies quickly, so that #GS3 could get to sleep at a reasonable time.
-
#Independence_Day greeting from #Daddy_A: I wish you lived closer. We're going to be having smoked meats and lighting fireworks and it would be cool if you came and hung out.
-
#Daddy_A's shipment arrived today. He has not yet notified me, but the tracking site told me.
-
Calling #Daddy_A by his childhood nickname today.
-
Not sure what is happening with #Daddy_A's package. Destination scans (which AFAIK signify arrival in his city) both yesterday and today.
-
Heard from two of the kids today.
#sonTwo is thinking about quitting the 2nd job early. They still haven't made back the money that was lost due to the shutdown, but he says he's spending too much time working and not enough with the family or working on bettering his future.
#Daddy_A didn't receive the package today, so he's hoping it comes tomorrow or Monday.

Weird. When I look back to junior high school (technically, my school was an "intermediate school" with 7th and 8th grades; a real junior high adds 9th grade), I see some of the most "challenging" times of my life. So it was really odd to see the widespread change from junior high and intermediate schools to middle schools in the ten to twelve years between when #sonOne went through and when #sonTwo and #Daddy_A went thorough.
(The younger two wound up going from public middle schools to a charter school because of the less violent and more learning centered environment. 2nd son got to take college classes as part of his curriculum and the youngest was no longer terrified by race-related fights that were happening at the public school.)
