I keep seeing references to a decision made in #NY state, to send / keep elderly patients in group care homes instead of dispersing them into less-crowded situations where fewer would be affected by any one person’s infection. I honestly do not have the time or inclination to dig into it.
But I can point to the state of #GA suing heavily affected #Atlanta to remove local mask-requirements and other restrictions. Instead of allowing local governments to respond appropriately, Governor Kemp said he wants people to voluntarily choose to behave appropriately. But he cannot be unaware of those who will not do so for political reasons.
There is over a century of precedent (since Typhoid Mary) that shows (1) that some infectious people will not choose to behave appropriately, (2) that their misbehavior causes other people to become sick and die, (3) that the only and best response is to force such people to restrict their activities, such that they can no longer infect others. In the original case, it was because the carrier did not understand how one could carry a disease without any obvious symptoms. That was still a new idea at the time. In today’s situation, it is willingly choosing not to understand that which requires restrictions on what one can do or where one can go.

#GA governor says “people should do the right thing” and wear a mask without an order, sues to block #Atlanta’s local mask order. Meanwhile federal guidelines say Georgia should issue a mask order and that local governments should retain the option of more restrictive policies in response to local needs https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/17/world/coronavirus-cases-update.html#link-64161147 [www nytimes com]

Looking on the US "confirmed by population" map on the JHU site. Along with the NYC area, the Navajo / Hopi reservation area in #AZ and #NM seems to have some of the highest numbers of cases (per capita) in the nation. Also the New Orleans area of #LA and an area that looks like it overlaps southern #GA and #AL.

I don't know what a "level 4" storm is, but apparently, they expect one tonight in #GA. Actually, I do have an idea: The #NOAA / #NWS / #SPC Storm Prediction Center has sent out #tornado watches in parts of #MS, #AL, #TN, AR, #LA ... so their alerts in Georgia are probably an extension of the same severe #t-storm system. S probably means that an EF4 tornado is possible.

7:54 pm: Georgia becomes second state to delay presidential primary
Georgia will delay its presidential primary scheduled for next week over concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Democratic Committee confirmed to CNBC.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Saturday said he was declaring a public health state of emergency in response to a growing number of coronavirus cases. He also encouraged faith-based organizations and similar entities to consider canceling public events and services
The state will now hold its presidential primary on May 19 instead of March 24.
Georgia's decision follows a similar move by Louisiana, which announced Friday it will push back its presidential nominating contests planned for April 4 to June 20.

I would never have seen https://www.missingandunsolved.com/georgia/ if K hadn’t talked about bodies of missing people dumped in Georgia swamps.
(Is #GA missing a lot of 16 year olds, or are it this site’s list? Are other states missing a lot of high school age people?)

Looking at the #NOAA / #NHC site, https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ , I see #Hurricane Dorian is still lashing the Bahamas with wind speeds of 185MPH (that’s about 300km/h) gusting up to 200MPH (that’s about 325km/h) and storm surge up to 23 feet (that’s about 7 meters).
For #FL, it looks like the storm center will be North of Miami, but a storm is not a dot. It is an irregular roundish spiral-like area that can be hundreds of miles across. Nearly all of Florida (and parts of #GA, #SC, #NC, #VA) is likely to face some part of this storm.
On the West Coast, #TropStorm Julliette is heading away from land, so its progrssion toward hurricane status should not be of major importance.

After Quackenbush's resignation as California Insurance Commissioner ( https://www.insurancejournal.com/magazines/coverstory/2000/07/10/21521.htm ), he left #CA and went to #HI. He eventually wound up in Florida as a sheriff's deputy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Quackenbush ). How does someone with a publicly-documented history of theft and dishonesty become a law enforcement officer, even in #FL?
The indictment against the Georgia Insurance Commissioner reminded me of our own state's issue. AFAIK, #GA has not removed Commissioner Beck from office yet.

I haven’t heard any #Conspiracy_Theories about the Georgia Guidestones in a long while. http://autumnallalong.com/2018/05/the-georgia-guidestones-facts-and-conspiracy/ I guess I should be glad that I don’t have someone warning me that lizard people, the illuminati, or the new world order made them.

The only conversation I ever had with #lazyNephew's ex-wife was a conspiracy about "the Virginia Guidestones".
.
It seems they've moved from #VA to #GA. ;-) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Guidestones
.
Even in Georgia, they factor in plenty of #conspiracy_theories.

South Carolina people take note: the #NOAA / #NHC forecast for #Hurricane #Florence's landfall has shifted southward. and the direction of motion shifted more WSW after impact. See https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
Pay attention if you live in #NC, #SC, #GA, #TN

As I was prepping for bed last night, I got a call from #sonTwo, who was driving through #GA and #AL. In a few hours, he will pick up his wife's new dog and head back to #FL with it.
We used to get free puppies from families outside Kmart. We'd look at the puppies, the mama dog, the papa dog if available, and the human family to decide whether to bring home a new addition to the family.

K from $EMPLOYER left assignment in #GA because he was sick. He got home, went to his doc, and has been hospitalized ever since. Spent his birthday in hospital, and was still there on my birthday.
