I sent #GS3 (age 2) a cheap Walmart tablet that I was dissatisfied with (but he liked playing with it when I was there). I don't know how much he uses it, because #sonTwo said he was not going to connect it to a network.

This morning’s picture: #GS3 “reading” to #GS4. He has memorized some of his books and can recite the words as you read them.
Guizzy, this is the moment you’re working toward. Well, that and the “Justin Trudeau eat soap” moment.

Audio was distorted, but I did get to #videochat with #GS3 for a couple of minutes before bedtime. He asked me “wha you doing?”, then showed me his book and pointed out some of the characters. Then it was time to say good night. First he said “no, don’t go”, but then he was ready and said good night.
Reminds me of his cousin #A1, whose “terrible twos” was that he said “no” to his mom a couple of times. (He’s very much like his dad … we used to arrange “supervised rebellion” for #Daddy_A so that he wouldn’t wait until his thirties to disobediently try something.)

Time to go mail some books to #GS3.

#GS4 was crying, so #GS3 started singing "Old MacDonald" to him to try to calm him. Later, #GS4 touched his older brother and started making baby noises at him. #bonding
I'm missing so much by being so far away from them.

During Sunday’s #videochat, I showed #GS3 two books I bought for #A1. He got a big smile on his face and said “books” in the clearest English I’ve heard from him.
So Grandpa went to Target and found three new books. I’ll try to ship this week.

Also, I showed #GS3 a couple of books I bought for his cousin #A1. He said “books!” and got a big smile. So I guess he’s going to get the Captain Underpants and Dog Man series like his cousins.
But not right away. He’s still at the stage where books need to have stiff tear-proof pages.

Did not get to #videochat with #sonOne and his family, nor with #Daddy_A and his family.
I did get about half an hour with #sonTwo and his family. They took #GS3 to a field with lots of tall flowers and he got to run between them. Then I walked to the store to replenish my #yogurt supply. When I came back, it was almost bedtime for the two year old, so we had a rushed session.
GS3 is particularly a fan of broccoli ? right now, so they’ve been making sure he has a little every day. He also likes cheese, so tonight he finished his quesadilla while talking to grandpa. I didn’t understand a word he said until time for “bye bye” and “good night”, but he smiled and babbled. I suppose he was probably talking about the field trip.
#GS4 sat quietly and watched the screen where grandpa was. And smiled.

Sent messages to sons asking to schedule short #videochat sessions tomorrow.
I normally have one with #sonOne and #GD1 and #GD2 (on rare occasions daughter-in-law pops in for a few minutes) Sunday afternoons, but recently, his work schedule has interfered.
I normally have them Fridays and Sundays with #sonTwo and #GS3 and #GS4 (sometimes daughter-in-law, but she's often busy), but we missed tonight's session.
Sessions with #Daddy_A, #A1, #A2, and #A3 are infrequent, and he often has device issues that prevent it. (That is, his iPhone and iPad don't display notifications or make sounds ... he even took the phone in for service; they couldn't correct it, so they replaced it.)

I was waiting around to see if they'd put #GS3 on for a #videochat, but it is getting to be his bedtime, so I am going to take a walk.

#GS3 likes books and is learning to use the potty, so I bought him a book. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/282163

Now that the Internet is working again, I had hoped for a chance to #videochat with #GS3.
Last time, he wanted to read / recite from a book I sent him.
-
#sonTwo: I'm going to start looking for a property with two houses on it. That way, you can teach #GS3 to count, teach him the alphabet, teach him reading.
I think he's getting a little ahead of things. I don't have a replacement job yet.

#sonTwo told me that #GS3 found a gift card stuck in one of the books I sent him. He pulled it off the book and stuck it to the wall.
-
#sonTwo was teaching #GS3 (2 years old) to sing old N'Sync and Backstreet Boys songs today. #GS4 (3 months old) was quite amused by it all.
-
#GS3 has a play stove. Today he cooked eggs for breakfast.

Never Touch a Shark!
#GS3 loves these sort of books. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/281909

#GS4 is still quieter than #GS3 was at that age (3 months), but he's beginning to roll over, make noise, and try to move toward Mommy.
-
#GS3 enjoyed his zoo trip so much they did it again today at a bigger zoo. the photos show that #GS4 also liked today's visit, except he looks hot.

#sonTwo says #GS3 hasn't been eating well since his recent illness. He's wondering whether it was #COVID-19 ... that perhaps the child's senses of smell and taste are affected.
So far, the only food he eats without fighting is #yogurt. He even rejected salad and french fries (two of his favorites). They ordered #pizza for tonight, hoping that he still likes that.
