84F in my room; 89F outside, heading for 94F. This is the beginning of the hot season.
No, it is not as bad as being in #MS, #AL, #LA, or even the #CA Central Valley, but #SoCal still feels rather hot to me.

Looking on the US "confirmed by population" map on the JHU site. Along with the NYC area, the Navajo / Hopi reservation area in #AZ and #NM seems to have some of the highest numbers of cases (per capita) in the nation. Also the New Orleans area of #LA and an area that looks like it overlaps southern #GA and #AL.

Got a call on the work cellphone from a #PR number; apparently someone working in #LA locked the keys in their vehicle.
Uh, I'm not in #Louisiana (nor in #Puerto_Rico), so I cannot help. Gotta call someone who is there.
(By the way, the caller was not from $EMPLOYER.)

I don't know what a "level 4" storm is, but apparently, they expect one tonight in #GA. Actually, I do have an idea: The #NOAA / #NWS / #SPC Storm Prediction Center has sent out #tornado watches in parts of #MS, #AL, #TN, AR, #LA ... so their alerts in Georgia are probably an extension of the same severe #t-storm system. S probably means that an EF4 tornado is possible.

Think about this: according to US CDC, 81% of people globally do not wash their hands after they urinate or defecate. In some countries, they just do not have the infrastructure set up to allow that. But I noticed when I was working in #Baton_Rouge, #LA, one time that three out of five men did not even pretend to wash their hands. One out of five pretended, and one out of five actually did. As a fairly heavy coffee drinker, I spent a lot of time in the facilities "returning water", so I got pretty good at telling what was happening just by the sound.
Think about that for a moment. In a government office in the US, handwashing rates were approximately the same as the global rate, which includes people in countries or areas where soap and running water are not available.

7:54 pm: Georgia becomes second state to delay presidential primary
Georgia will delay its presidential primary scheduled for next week over concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Democratic Committee confirmed to CNBC.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Saturday said he was declaring a public health state of emergency in response to a growing number of coronavirus cases. He also encouraged faith-based organizations and similar entities to consider canceling public events and services
The state will now hold its presidential primary on May 19 instead of March 24.
Georgia's decision follows a similar move by Louisiana, which announced Friday it will push back its presidential nominating contests planned for April 4 to June 20.

Wow. I got messages from pack and ship stores in both Baton Rouge, #LA; and Cape Girardeau, #MO; today. I know you miss my business, but surely you have other customers.

When I was working in #Baton_Rouge #LA the first time (2013, I believe), the McDonald’s near the LSU campus messed up my no-salt well-done fries order so often that the manager finally said to go somewhere else.

Seeing @moonman talk about a power outage at the casino reminds me of being in #Baton_Rouge, #LA, several years back. There was a big storm moving in (with tornadoes and everything) and lots of wind and rain, but it was drive to the casino or starve, so Mark and I met there, while S went to a different casino in another parish. We were already inside and eating when the power went out. It came back after 10-15 minutes, and they let us stay there and eat (but they were not serving new guests until power came back). After we finished, he went to play some slots and I started my trek back to the hotel. Power went out again before I got out of the building.
I hadn't taken my company cell phone with me, so when I got back, I found that management was freaking out about the storm and afraid that people may have been hurt or killed. One guy had gone to see a movie (on Christmas day, imagine that) and turned his phone off. They had called everyone at least twice (and they followed with another couple of calls after I got back to the hotel). It was probably almost 17:00 US-Central when the movie guy turned his phone back on and found that he had dozens of panicked messages.
Lesson learned: get something that tastes decent that you can eat in the room instead of going to hotel and casino banquets for holiday meals. The casino food was expensive and not very good. There was a huge quantity, but there's only so much one person can eat.

No, calling with a #LA number is not going to get me to answer your robocall. You'll have to do better than that.

When I was in #LA, I heard people talking about andouille sausage. Now, years later, curiousity arose. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andouille

@kelbot If you happen to visit #Baton_Rouge, #LA, GameStop sent me to a locally-owned competing store named GameWare to get a used #PSP a few years ago after my old one's battery swelled up. I bought 2 PSPs and a #PSVita, but sent one PSP to my son. Pricing seemed high, but I was there and I want the systems right away.

As #NOAA / #NHC expected, Barry is now a #hurricane as it move onto land in #LA.

I've been checking up on co-workers who live in #LA. Most say their families are ready for #TropStorm / soon to be #Hurricane Barry.
.
Meanwhile, #TD 4-E forms in the Pacific, expected to briefly become a TropStorm, but not to threaten land.

#TS_Barry forms near Louisiana. Expect a long bath in #TX, #MS, #LA, because #NOAA / #NHC said the storm is only moving around 5MPH.
