@amic How much are they per shirt? I'll pay for one. If we get some others to pitch in, you'll be back in style in a few days.

Another day, another follow request from a bot-like Mastodon.Social account with zero posts.

People talking about video stores reminds me that I never even owned a VCR until 2002. My ex and #sonTwo bought me a VHS player / NTSC TV combo unit and an external DVD player to connect to it.

My youngest grandson (he'll be one in March) just stood without holding on to anything for the first time. #Proud_Grandpa #GS3

Some people here could probably get some use out of this.
-
@simsa03 You're probably right. But then they should at least put this info in their site's docs, so that more experienced users can point to them. There should never be a situation where a user files a copyright complaint at an instance's hosting company because they accidentally discovered that their (public) posts also go to other instances. Nor should the instance admin fail to explain it if the user comes to them.
-
For those instance admins who don't know this:
1. Every one of your users' contacts has a remote profile on your instance.
2. Every one of your users have remote profiles on all of their contacts' instances.
3. If your users do not know this, it is up to you to explain it if/when they discover one of these remote profiles.

@lain "Bing it" ==> Spend an hour scrolling through irrelevant search results trying to find something that better search engines would put near the front.

@CarlCravens @gamehawk Being born before 1964, I remember when some people in my generation thought we would fix all the previous generations' messes. By the time the tail end graduated high school, I think that had pretty much evaporated.
(Side note: Not since at least World War I has there been a 16-25 year slice where people are alike enough that the ssme label describes the groups as a whole. Generationalism is as false as other isms.)

Is there a conspiracy by the #asparagubbians to put awful tasting #asparagus on our plates? Why have leading #conspiracy_theorists ignored this breaking story?

I've seen several explanations for why #ACA is causing health insurance rates to skyrocket. However, the primary cause is already known:
Both government and insurance industry organizations expected that YHAs (young, healthy adults) would pay into the system, but not use the services. Instead, they found out that YHAs didn't use medical services because they could not afford them. As soon as they obtained coverage, they started using medical services. This unexpectedly high usage drives up insurance prices for everyone.
Secondarily, some states refused to extend #MedicAid to more low-income people, so in those states, people were pushed into the insurance pool. These were people who were previously uninsured and unlikely to use non-emergency medical care, much like YHAs, except they are in worse condition.
In states where MedicAid coverage was extended, taxpayers are being asked to fill in. If state budgets are stressed, some of those people are being pushed to private insurance instead of taxpayer-supported coverage.
In summary: both government and industry organizations started with unrealistic expectations, which led to artificially low rates. Those rates will rise as more people use the insurance they are now required to pay for.

Watching the herd of dancing polar bears convinces me that:
(1) Browsers should offer the ability to prevent animations as well as media (audio/video) from starting. That ability should be enabled by default.
(2) Until all major browsers implement this, Pleroma should offer the ability to prevent animations as well as media (audio/video) from starting. That ability should be enabled by default.
